I Am Drinking Chivas Regal As I Write This.

I have to tell you all. I do kind of live on a fixed income. But this week I had a small surplus. So I bought some 12-year-old Chivas Regal scotch. I am glad I did. I have always been a fan of it.

I have had a couple of other drinks I enjoy too. Wednesday is my drink day. I drink on no other day. Seems to work for me in any event.

Anyone else a fan of Chivas Regal? I am drinking it on-the-rocks. How do you enjoy it?

:):)

Yep, but pure for me, no water, no ice. I usually have the 12 y old as well, but I have a bottle of 18 y old waiting to be opened for my brother to drop by (he gave it to me).

Aged single malts are often even more attractive, I find.

I went through a scotch phase. Chivas Regal 12 year old was my go-to.

Then, someone gave me a bottle of the 18 year old stuff. Made the 12 year old taste awful in comparison. I remember wishing I’d never tried the 18.

My Old Man was a Scotch drinker, and favored the premium blends in his latter drinking days…Chivas and Bell’s. Over a couple of ice cubes and with a splash of plain water. This was before the single-malt surge.

I’ve always preferred Bourbon and Irish, with ice and a little seltzer. Spent a couple weeks in Scotland a few years back – Edinburgh, Skye, the Highlands, and the Orkneys – and did my best to enjoy the variety of whiskies of the different regions. It was fun, but I went back to Bourbon and Irish after I came home.

How much is a bottle?

Interesting. Wednesday is my “not drinking” day.

I Am Drinking Ripple as I Write This

It’s my go-to apéritif before and after breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and midnight snack, Monday through Sunday. And, I don’t swig any of that old, stale stuff; vintage 1-month is my preference—I have standards after all.

Of you are going to indulge then be indulgent. That being said, I like a good scotch on special occasion but my go-to whiskey is Jameson’s.
I learned to appreciate it with a wee dram instead of straight up. The touch of water really does release a nice nose.
