I am invisible to the world, and I love it!

I installed Norton Internet Security today after using Zone Labs for many moons. While Zone Labs is a great product and any firewall is a blessing, I needed virus protection and the only Norton AntiVirus I could get was with the Internet Security, in the store. I am not impressed with McAfee, it can’t even detect the Loveletter varient that hit my client’s office. Neither the local machines nor the Exchange Server edition.

I just tested my ports at: Gibson Research and I am in STEALTH mode.

The only thing it could figure out was my IP address and my computer name, workgroup and user name. Of course I have those as obscure as possible.

I feel like an island now. My internet world is free of malicious buttheads that try to gain access to my computer. I am the queen of my domain and have the armed forces working for me full time.

What a power trip!

Neato.

More invisible, eh? Is that what you think?
I can tell from here you aren’t wearing panties again:D

Hey, I use the Norton Firewall software too. I’ve got a small network in home with a DSL connection to the net. Even though I have all that Microsoft networking stuff enabled, the Gibson site couldn’t figure out my computer or workgroup info. I suppose you could tweak your installation and become even more invisible!

Note that Gibson’s site is somewhat incomplete; for a real test, go to http://www.hackerwhacker.com

I thought with ZoneAlarm my computer name, workgroup, and user name were all invisible - all that showed up was an IP. (And I can deny WAN requests with my Linksys so I can’t even be pinged either). Or was I using different options then you, perhaps, in ZoneAlarm?

And as to your security test, Liz. Post your IP. I’ll tell you if you are secure or not. After all, everyone knows us girlz ain’t to brite with them there cum-puters, i culdnt do tooo much harm, write?

So that was YOU in my shower this morning…
