I Am Iraq: Dubya Sings Paul Simon

I have had the idea for this parody for some time, finally got around to putting my thoughts together for it. And the Pit seems to be the proper place to post it:

An autumn day
On a deep and dark September
I am the Prez
Gazing at the rubble where the WTC stood
I can use this tragedy to press my quest for blood

I am Iraq
I am annihilation

Rove’s done stonewalls
A fortress deep and mighty
That Congress can’t penetrate

I have no need of allies
Allies use their brains
It’s thinking, and it’s something I disdain

I am Iraq
I am annihilation

I’ve got my Book
And Dick Cheney to protect me
I am shielded by Exec. Privilege
Hiding from the truth or a modern John Wilkes Booth
If I alter truth they surely will believe me.

I am Iraq
I am annihilation

And Iraq feels no pain
And those Ay-rabs never cry.

Standing O!

That would “ovation”, I am hoping.

It for sure ain’t ovulation. :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent!

That’s very good, Poly! Very funny!

Terrific!!

Magnificent!

I usually never post in the pit, but I am making an exception just to say…

Bravo sir. Wish I thought of it.
.

Brilliant!

::wild applause::

Yet another reason that I think the SDMB is worth every penny!

Pretty good, but you have some issues with the number of syllables.

Sure beats John McCain covering the Beach Boys (YouTube).

Easily remedied. Poly, if I may be so bold:

*An autumn day
In a deep and dark September
I am the President
Gazing at the rubble where the Towers stood
I can use this tragedy to press for blood

I am Iraq - annihilation

Rove’s done stonewalls
A fortress deep and mighty
That Congress cannot penetrate

I have no need of allies
Allies use their brains
It’s thinking, and it’s something I disdain

I am Iraq - annihilation

I’ve got my Book
And Dick Cheney to protect me
I am shielded by my Privilege
Hiding from the truth or a modern John Wilkes Booth
I alter truth and no one can touch me.

I am Iraq - annihilation

And Iraq feels no pain
And those Ay-rabs never cry.*

Oh, and kudos for a fine opus.

There’s also a verse missing, and I’m still troubled about some syllables, so with all due respect to certain living authors:

An autumn day
On a deep and dark September
I am the President
Gazing at the rubble where the towers stood
I can use this tragedy to drink their blood

They is Iraq
I am annihilation

Al Gonzales –
With recall short and flighty
That Congress can’t penetrate

I have no need of allies
Allies use their brains
That’s thinking, and it’s something I disdain

They is Iraq
I am annihilation

Don’t talk of laws,
Against wiretaps and torture;
See, liberty is a memory.
The Congress and Supreme Court don’t need a reason why.
If they hadn’t asked I never would have lied.

They is Iraq
I am annihilation

I have The Book
And Karl Rove to protect me
I am shielded by Exec. Privilege
Hiding from the truth or a modern John Wilkes Booth
If I alter truth no one can touch me.

They is Iraq
I am annihilation

And Iraq feels no pain
And an Arab never cries.

   Sweet… It’s got me, how should I put it, feelin’ groovy, Polycarp. Oh, surely, not “fair and balanced” but I don’t particularly care, y’know? And Nametag’s extra verse is also outstanding.

That’s okay, seeing as Bush himself often has the same problem.
