Three days ago I felt a bump in the roof of my mouth, our infant baby had an appointment with the doctor, husband is leaving tomorrow for Singapore where he’ll be for the next three months, leaving me alone with our child, so I figured I’d go to the dentist on Monday.
About two hours ago I noticed salty taste in my mouth, and to my surprise found out that I am bleeding from that spot, it is not much, but it is continous and I have what looks like a blackened burn on the spot. No dentists until Monday and I can’t tell my husband because I don’t want to worry him before trip that will last almost two days and he’s already sad enough about leaving us.
Maybe I am making a mountain out of molehill. Maybe it is all the other stuff that is making me so pesimistic, but I fear the worse.
Obviously, IANA Doctor, but you can get cold sores inside your mouth, even on the roof of your mouth. They blister and fill with a yucky fluid, burst, then cover over with a nasty scab.
Naturally, see your dentist, but I hope this helps ease some of your worry - it is likely just a cold sore.
Try not to worry too much yet. I know that’s hard but just try. You’ll make yourself crazy. It could well be some complete nothing.
I forget if you’re in the U.S.; there won’t be any dentists open on Monday, most likely. Perhaps a regular doctor might be better to see? (Although they won’t be open on Monday either.) If it doesn’t stop bleeding after a little while, if it were me I’d go to the emergency room. Even if it does mean waiting for hours.
Could even be you nicked the inside of your mouth with the edge of a crunchy food, like a potato chip or something. I scratched the inside of my cheek once and the next day I felt a big bump there with my tongue. I freaked and grabbed a mirror. A blood blister had formed there, and it was then I remembered the chip incident. Might be the exact thing in your case. It never hurts to have it checked out, but try not to worry too much.
