I am seeing George Carlin in Concert

In all places DE, Tranquilis and I are going. I have seen him on HBO and am reading his books. I can not wait to see him in person, It should be good, seating pretty close to the stage also.

I’ve seen him twice in person already. He really puts on a good show. Gets really into it and is a lot of fun. He mostly does the stuff from his most recent HBO show/CD, but adds new material he is working on. I saw him in April and he was crazy. I think some of the stuff he said offended people, but it was good times. Have fun.

Have fun. I’ve heard people rave about his live shows lately, but the only one I saw was around 8 to 10 years ago, and he just wasn’t very good. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that he maybe just had a bad night, but he really struggled. I absolutely loved his routines I had heard on the radio and seen on TV, so the live disappointment was especially, well, disappointing.

I’m with TripleAnt, in that I’ve seen Carlin live twice. The first time was funnier, but I had a great time on both occasions. The second time I didn’t consider quite as good because he seemed to open with his best stuff and sort of dwindled off in the latter part of his spiel.

If you decide to buy a t-shirt or other souvenir, I’ve noticed that they are pretty much gone by intermission. Not sure if that is the case everywhere, but it has been each time I’ve seen him, so if you want something you might want to grab it before the show starts. Have fun!

If you sit near the front, be sure and cover yourself with plastic, because when he starts smashing those melons, watch out!
I’m sorry, I’ll go now.

I would see Gallagher, but I am not sitting in the Front Row, I’ll take Nose Bleeds for that show.

I’ve seen Carlin live, and he’s been doing this long enough that he’s got it down. A lot of familiar stuff, but also a fair amount of new stuff. He’s said that he uses his road shows to polish material for his HBO specials.

I would LOVE to see him again.

Robin

You have my sympathies.
Carlin hasn’t made sense since he released that album in which he equates being polite in traffic with feeling guilty over Vietnam.
 :smack:

I’m with Bosda. Carlin lost me with his hateful rant about victims of anorexia nervosa. His take on the subject: “Fuckem. Let em starve to death.”

It’s been too many years since I found him entertaining. I turned off his last HBO special after a very short time. Guess it’s good for him that he still has fans.

I saw him ~ 1996 or 1997 , right after Brain Droppings came out.
It was OK, but not as good as I had hoped. Get wasted first, maybe you’ll giggle more.

For $35, I felt kind of cheated.

He lost me after he did a thing on organ donor programs. Part of his schtick is offending everyone, true, but this rant wasn’t offensive; it was stupid.
