I am so pleased with my state's legislature

For the second time in five years, a motion was raised in the Michigan legislature to overturn Michigan’s long-standing ban on Capital Punishment.

And for the second time in five years, Michigan’s legislature rejected the proposal.

I don’t want to debate the issue of Capital Punishment. I don’t want to fight. It isn’t often that we get the opportunity to whole-heartedly approve of politicians, so today I just want to bask in warm feelings toward my elected officials, and I invite anyone who feels so inclined to share my joy.

didn’t they also reject the state constitutional amendment saying marraige is between a man and a women, too? that made me feel proud.

Yes they did, and thanks for reminding me. I love our little plaid-wearing pasty-eating backwoods legislature, pushing back ever so pluckily against the darkness.

Nitpick: they rejected the proposal to put such an amendment on the ballot. Not that I’m any less pleased.
