I have a chance at being on a national TV show but the producer needs permission to film in my place (in currently a renter but I am moving out at the end of the month…I finally bought a place) and he refused to sign!!
Well, his DAD is the guy that does all the dirty work for him. I have never seen the acutal owner in 15 years (my mom rented until she passed away) and I threatened his dad that I would show up at his son’s home to discuss this with him. In an effort to stave me off, he actually called me and said no, he couldn’t sign, for soem buls^&% reason.
What a f*&!en pr*ck. The crew would only be here for about 1/2 hour.
I am really angry that people could be so, i don’t know, selfish, self centered, evil, spiteful, stupid, I have no words to describe how much I dislike this guy right now…
Wow, what a dick. Is there any way you could draft a contract with him saying that any damage done by the crew would be paid for by you or something? There’s gotta be some way around it.
You said it. He’s just a moron. He doesn’t want to sign anything. He said that he had a previous bad experience with a crew. I was thinking, BS! What other film crew wants to film a crappy, falling apart rental fourplex??? He owns many of them…
I’m surprised the landlord actually has the right to do this.
I mean, the land lord has certain rights over his property. But those rights don’t extend to the land lord being able to tell you for example who’s allowed to visit you in your home.
Iw as going to say, check witha local housing lawyer. I’m pretty sure that you do not need his permission to do this (unless it’s in your lease somewhere?). Definately go check with a lawyer!
I was in a documentary made for Discovery a couple of years ago and the film maker insisted on permission to shoot from both my landlord and my workplace (we filmed at both places). Fortunately, I did not have twits on either end.
I hope you are able to get a work around. Being on film is really kind of neat.
