I am strangely giddy - Flash Gordon

I’ve known about the new Flash Gordon tv show coming on the Sci-Fi Channel. However, tonight, I saw the trailer, and I rewound and watched it five times for one reason and one reason only - they used the Queen soundtrack. I still have “Flash! Ahh-ahh!” in my head as I type this. My wife thinks I’m insane (not for the first time) because I’m squealing over not the show, not the trailer, but the music they played DURING the trailer.

I can’t find the trailer online anywhere yet, unfortunately. But soon, soon.

That’s funny. When I read about the show, I also couldn’t get that damn Queen song out of my head. Don’t get me wrong, I love Queen, but <Flash…Gordooooonnnnn> as an ear worm at 2am is annoying at best!

Oh, I have the soundtrack, and it is indeed awesome, right next to my A Kind of Magic cd…I just didn’t expect them to use the soundtrack for the new show.

Please understand: we’re not trying to impose censorship. We just don’t want anyone inadvertently clicking on a link to something that could be career-limiting if their boss happens to walk by. Lots of our members read the boards during work hours, and it’s easy to accidentally click on something when you scroll or mouse-over or whatever. We don’t care where you link as long as no one can get there accidentally.

The goal is to set things up so that no one gets to such a website unintentionally.

• One approach is to require a second click: the first click goes to some innocuous entry screen, for example. While a first click might be unintentional, you probably know what you’re doing with the second click.

• An easy approach is to turn off the button below the entry screen, “Automatically parse links in text.” That way, someone will have to activate the link first, so that anyone going there will be doing so deliberately.

• A final approach is to deliberately mess the link – for example, putting in extra spaces. Anyone who wants to go to the site can do so, just by cutting and pasting and removing the extra spaces; but no one can click there inadvertently.

Note that being “workplace safe” doesn’t just mean that there’s no nudity or explicit visible sex. A page with a flashing banner that says in large, bright colors that “Hot Nubile Young Teens” would NOT be workplace safe. The criteria is: if your boss walked by while that was on your screen, would it cause her/him to stop and stare, and would it potentially cause problems at work? If yes, then don’t provide a direct link.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread I had the Queen song going through my head.
My boyfriend insisted on my watch “Flesh Gordon”. Afterward I told him it would have been a lot better if it had used music by Queen.
