However, I went to Guerrilla Theater last night at my college. (For those of you who don’t know, Guerrilla Theatre at the University of Alabama takes place in the smaller theater on campus. People sign up for ten minutes of time and can do anything–sing, dance, monologues, skits, poetry readings–just about anything goes.)
Alpha Psi Omega (the actor’s fraternity–I’m a pledge) puts it all together.
Anyhow, I performed last night. I did one of my poems as a dramatic piece.
I was stopped by several people as I left. Three of them were from the campus literary magazine. They told me I needed to submit my work. Many MANY people told me I needed to come back and do some more readings.
However, one person made my night.
She said, “Your style reminds me of T. S. Eliot.”
(For those of you who don’t know…Eliot’s my absolute favorite poet in the world.)
I wonder if she was weirded out because I hugged her?
Anyhow, that’s my special exciting story. I just felt like sharing.
I’m glad you got such a great reaction to your work, too. (There must be nothing worse than having your works rejected or ridiculed.) Pretty neat to be told you’ve got some similarity to an inspiration.
Searching, there’s a link to my website in my sig. I have several poems up there, including the one I did last night, called “The Art of Conversation.”
Ignore that glowing goo on the floor here…it’s just that I bursted with pride and left somewhat of a mess!
I never expected anything less for you, Nocturne. You were born to be noticed, recognized and immortalized. My crystal ball is never wrong about these things!
I think it is simply wonderful (albeit expected) that others are finally seeing the talent that is you. Get ready for many years of the same.

I’m glad to see you actually did something with your poetry instead of just keeping it to yourself. I told you you were destined for greatness. Now do you believe me?
Just think, in 30 years I’ll be able to say that I know the Poet Laureate.
Congrats. I hope you keep sharing your poetry. It really is that good.
