I am too stupid to have a pony tail! Too stupid!

I use the Goody ouchless bands too, the super thick ones. Three times around is too loose, four times around is near impossible. Eventually I end up with a bunch of stretched-out elastics that become cat toys, and I go to the store and buy new ones for me. Once I had one actually break while I was wrestling it into my hair, and the pain when it lashed my fingers was exquisite. (And not in a good way.)

It’s only in the last five years or so that I’ve cultivated long hair. I am having to learn at age 36 all these girl-things that most females pick up in grade school. It’s hard!

I just want to add that really short hair on a woman = scorching hot.

I found the trick is getting an elastic on that is just loose enough that it will hold for a few minutes and then getting the second one on a bit tighter. Since my hair is held in a bundle by the first it is easier to draw through the tight loop. It still is not easy.

Have you tried using a clip? Some of the clips designed to put your hair up, you know, pull it into a loose ponytail, twist it, hold it up against the back of your head and put a clip onto the ponytail and into the scalp hair?

Well, some of those clips now have rubber coating on the underside of the teeth and make them great for just clipping around ponytails.

Or, see Miller’s post

You know, each time I see Evil Captor misunderstand the thread title, my imagination goes nuts. Most of the time, it’s the kind of mild “ick” suggested by :dubious:

Get your mind out of the gutter, yo.

[sub]Sssshhh. It’s not nice to make fun of people like her. She’s just going through an awkward stage.[/sub]

Be careful with these. I have very long thick/heavy hair that needs to be clipped up out of the way when I garden, etc. I bought a few of those new clips with rubber on the inside. Horrible mistake! I had massive hair breakage after one wearing.

How disappointing. I thought this was going to be the beginning of a pony tail poem.

So I’m not alone. Yep, I grew up a tomboy. This girly stuff is hard.

And yes, I have been wearing a shirt when leaving the house since I had my memorable incident. However, the shirt goes on after the pony tail goes in, so perhaps the trauma of the pony tail was what caused my forgetfulness!

I’ll admit to being slightly leery of bungie-ing my head. It’s just one step from there to tying myself to the roof of an SUV!

I thought it was pretty durned tasteful of me not to explain the nature of my misunderstanding.
