My cats grew up with dogs and the dogs LOVED them. The cats used to sleep between their paws or on top of the dogs - quite a comfy bed, especially the collies. The lab crosses loved them too and they weren’t with the cats full time - yet they just welcomed them right in. These were dogs that had never seen a cat in their lives before mine. My friend’s Golden loved them too. Never had problems. Maybe I was just lucky with the six dogs my cats “knew” as they grew up but it seems that six for 0 just wouldn’t be possible if cats and dogs supposedly hated each other.
WAG but maybe the trauma of abandonment has set her back to a milk diet. This happened to a rather too young kitty I acquired, he was definitley eating solids while still with his Mum but when we took his home he refused to do anything but drink kitten formula for a week.
Yeah that is one little cutie pie, hope Queenie comes round.
You are a wonderful person, siberia.
Don’t know about studies-a former girlfriend had a red dobie she’d bring with her when staying for a few days. The litter of fuzzers crawled all over that dog, and he was sweet to every one of them.
I think I meant “six for six.” That makes more sense, right?
I don’t get all these sports idioms. I can’t even name one Red Sox player, which some people find horrifying considering I live in Boston.
My ex once found a kitten in a burlap sack and brought it home.
We named him Simon. The cool thing was that he took to me even though it was her that saved him.
But he got sick and had to be put down.
Awwww, that is the cutest kitty ever!!! What a wonderful addition to your family!
Max
It’s no wonder the poor li’l feller is stressed out, with that skunk molesting her – throw Pépé LePew out and let the poor girl get some rest!
Dogs are very social animals, more so than cats. The dog probably looks at the kitten as a new addition to the pack. Yay!!
The cat will need some time to some to this conclusion. She *will * come around, though. Just takes some getting used to.
To be fair, he wasn’t abandoned. I was driving along a streach of road between a junked car lot/warehouse property and a bar, and Archer was staggering across the road. He was obviously the git of the cats that live in the junkyard, but he was WAY out of his territory. I slamed on the brakes, and then got out and found him right under the left front wheel of the van. I’m glad I could find him a good home, but sorry that Gingy’s allergies prevented us from giving him that home ourselves.

Cats do that. They pick you …if you are lucky, that is!
What a cutie-pie, siberia ! Thank you for saving her! Have you named her yet?
We brought a little rescue kitty home when our it’s-good-to-be-king cat was about 2 years old. Louie (Louie) is our fat alphaCat and Lucy (in the sky with diamonds) is our comic relief. Two very different cats but they have figured out how to co-exist…bet yours will also.
Good luck…and again good for you!
*and may whoever would put a kitty out on a busy road in the rain end up in the cat controlled ring of dante’s inferno *

You know, there’s a breed of cat for people with allergies now.
Oy! What a long night. The new kitty (now named Dharma) was up
eating from the bottle most of the night. She just now start on some
soft-solid kitty food. Miss Trouble (aka The Queen) is still plotting
Dharma’s demise. I think part of the problem is that Trouble lost her
hearing last year. This makes her startle real easily. Now, if I can
just keep Lucy (my Great Dane) from constantly wanting to clean Dharma
with her tongue.
My sister fostered kittens last year and her female rottweiler mix washed the little ones so often that one of them ended up with a raw rear-end. Big goofy dog.
Dharma is adorable by the way, has anyone mentioned that lately?
Good for you siberia!!
Just about every critter I have ever had was someone else’s throw-away. I could never understand people who abandon them like that. 2 dogs, 3 cats, 6 chickens, 2 parakeets, and a rabbit here.
Awwww! Kitties! I love 'em. Must go cuddle the Rio-Cat now.
Last year my favorite co-worker found three kittens whose eyes weren’t opened yet in a paper bag by a dumpster where she was looking for boxes. Two of the kittens died about an hour after she found them; the other she bottle fed. Today he’s almost grown and absolutely convinced that she’s his mother; he’s also one of the most affectionate and closest thing to “trained” of any cat I’ve ever known. (His name is Temujin and he’s one of the few cats I’ve ever liked.)
Sampiro, you’ll have to watch out for a cat with a name like that. He may go out and conquer China, or at least ravage a sporting goods store.
Aww! How cute! My husband acquired his cat in a similar manner, except it wasn’t raining. Someone was driving down the street, stopped behind a car that was pulling out of a driveway and set the kitten down behind the car (that was backing up)! He and his GF (at the time) ran down the street, waving their arms to make sure kitty didn’t get run over. They took her to PetSmart, figuring someone would take her home. And they did!
Here’s the tubby-butt princess now.
Well, I’d say Dharma has recovered quite nicely. We’re still working on the other cat’s acceptance and I think we’ve made a bit of progress in that area. These things take time I suppose.
