The old Frigidaire is probably 30 years old. Works fine, but roomie says it runs all the time. I did detect a cold leak from the freezer door today. Sears will deliver the new fridge in a week’s time, and take the old one away. They said the company that takes it will either recycle it or donate it. I hope they donate it. That’s what I was going to do with it, but it’s easier to have someone else take it away.
Sears will come out a week from Tuesday and pipe the water to it. I don’t use ice myself, but roomie does and buys it by the bag. I’ll have to figure out how to use the crushed ice that comes out of the door.
There was a tag that estimated it would cost $57/year in electricity. Actually, roomie said that the fridge was the only thing she could think of that would make my electricity bills so high. (That, and she says I use too much water to wash the dishes. But I’m not changing that.)
I about orgasmed over the first fridge with the ice/water dispenser in the door … ice cold filtered water on demand, and I didn’t even have to open the door to get the ice squee
What…I drink lots of ice water, it is my favorite drink.
The Honey thinks the 57 year old chest freezer in the basement is wonderful. With that and the 30 yo fridge in the kitchen, we have a light bill that might be confued with the city’s.
That’s a stainless beauty! I have the offwhite version … adding more mundane madness due to replace the water filter … and will hopefully purchase 3 filters just to have them around for next time.
They said they’d deliver between 14:00 and 16:00. They came at 11:30. Fortunately I’d started emptying the old fridge at eleven. Milk and things that needed to stay cold were kept in, with the latter in grocery bags; so it was empty by the time they got the new fridge off of the truck. Everything is in the new fridge now.
Not a whole lot of room in the freezer, but roomie’s Big Bag-O-Ice is taking up space. More storage in the door. My film is taking up half a shelf. This is my first experience with a side-by-side fridge (except for the occasional encounter at friends’ houses). As I said, the old fridge was a 17 cubic foot Frigidaire. The fridge in my apartment in L.A. was the same model, and the one before that was as well. Dad’s fridge was also one of those. There’s quite a lot of space in the door, and a gallon of milk fits there. I didn’t throw out too much, but there’s still a lot of space left. They’re coming out to plumb the water line for the ice maker Tuesday, so there will be more space in the freezer once we get rid of roomie’s ice.
