I lost my key for our new Honda CRV and they want $249 just for a new key and $500 for the electronic key fob you leave in your pocket!

My mother had good luck with ordering a programmable key and fob online and following the instructions for setting them up. MUCH cheaper. IIRC was approximately $70 for two of each.
Of course a few weeks later she found the missing key and fob which she had left in the pocket of a sweater she rarely wore.
They’re usually available for less, but it’s not like getting a key copies at the hardware stuff for a buck apiece. Or a nickel apiece as they were in the good old days when everything cost a nickel.
I have had to buy extra key fob and keys. Go on line, like above said. They are a good deal cheaper and they work.
