I can't stand packing anymore

Seven trips in 6 weeks. The longest being 1 week, the shortest being 2 days.

The first couple of times I packed I thought about what I would need each day, what I would wear each day and took into account what I would be doing and where I was going.

Now I am just shoving stuff into a suitcase and hoping I won’t find 20 pairs of socks and no underpants when I unpack. Of course, I am probably lugging around a ton of useless stuff that probably doesn’t match up with any of the other useless stuff I packed and I may end up washing out the clothes on my back in the sink each day .

And I really don’t care although it may confound the folks I am visiting when I keep having to run out to buy essentials. I did most of the packing last night after unpacking yesterday morning after packing Monday morning and I have no clue at this point as to what is in this suitcase, I’m just going to drag it to the car in 15 minutes or so and hope for the best.

Then no more travel for weeks and weeks, I hope…!!!

I do this all the time. Packing I mean. I got used to it and can now pack a carry on like it’s a Tardis.

It gets easier, or you quit traveling.

If you travel often, it helps to keep a separate toiletries kit in your suitcase. That way you just have to add clothes.

Also, making a packing list can be very useful; I’m not normally that organized a person, but I’ve found that a packing list keeps me from forgetting important things while I can just pull the unneeded stuff out of my bag if it’s not on the list. In fact, I have several basic packing lists saved on my computer now, depending on the length of the trip and where I’m going.

I went this way several years ago. While most of my travel is long weekend to see friends kind of stuff, it’s just easier to keep a ditty bag with a spare toothbrush, comb, deoderant, shampoo, toothpaste, floss… Then all I have to worry about is if I need long or short sock, and how many pairs of underwear.
