I can't view secure sites!

I’m using AOL (with Internet Exploder 6), Windows XP Home.
This is a fairly recent occurrance. It only started a month ago and I can’t view secure sites. The page that comes up says “This page cannot be displayed”, just as soon as I click on the link to sign in. Other non-secure websites work.

I’ve tried everything, and yes, I do have 128 bit security. I’ve cleared all my caches, histories and everything else. I’ve followed the Windows help website’s instructions to the letter.
And it’s still not working.
No, I will not change browsers, nor will I get a new computer, nor will I “stop using Windows”.
I’m at my wit’s end (I’m sure people will dispute whether my wit ever had a beginning)

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the most up-to-date version of IE?

Have you run spyware/adware/virus software?

Yes, and yes.

Hmm. I’d bet you haven’t done everything on, say, this list or this one?

Way back when I answered phones for MS support, I would have put the best chances on the re-registering of the .dlls in that 2nd link in fixing the issue.

Speaking of which, unless you have some cut-rate version of XP, you get two free incident calls to Microsoft. Don’t go nuts before you call them.
