'I, Claudius' Appreciation Thread

I’m watching, for the third time, the BBC/Masterpiece Theater production of ‘I, Claudius’, starring Derek Jacobi. My god that’s a great series. It’s intriguing, exciting, and hilarious all at once. I’d watch a sitcom based on Augustus and Livia every day. The books by Robert Graves are great as well - don’t know how close they are to actual history, but they’re a hell of a read.

It’s filled with great performances. Augustus, Livia, Caligula, and, of course, Claudius, are all really well done. I highly highly recommend the DVD box set. It’s 13 hour long episodes, but in my opinion they fly by.

Great minds think alike.

Oops, shoulda searched. Well, consider this the ICAT Part II.

Since posting in the previous thread, I still find myself appreciating “I, Claudius”.

The book, that is; still haven’t seen the mini-series. Maybe somebody will buy it for me for Christmas (hint-hint!)

Another nomination for “best line:”

Livia to gladiators: “You’re all scum, and you know it.”

There are so many opportunities to use that line in one’s everyday life!
