I could have five $1000+ suits for free...

…if I wasn’t so damn small!

I am in the process of starting a new job, one that requires a jacket and tie as proper dress. This is a huge leap from my previous job which allowed me to come into work in shorts and sandals. When I accepted the new job, I knew I had to get some new threads and wasn’t looking forward to dropping the dime on them, but since I should be making 2-3 times the money, I figure iwould be worth it.

This past weekend during a family function, my cousin and his wife mention to me that he has a bunch of suits, all custom taylored, that I could have because he grew out of them. My cousin is taller than I am, but not particularly built. I think, “Fucking sweet! Now I can just have his old suits and have them taken in at a local taylor.”

The suits looks great. Great, but big.

Here’s a little on how not big I am. I’m a 24 year old guy, 5’6", and weigh about 130. To translate that into clothing size, it’s a jacket size 36 short and pants size of about a 30.

The taylor said he’d have to cut the jackets to pieces to get them to fit. He estimated it would be about $150+ for the jacket, plus cost for the pants, multiplied by the number of suits. He was a good man and advised me against it.

I knew it was too good to be true. I guess I’m taking OhFace out with me suit shopping this weekend and looking around to see if someone local needs a few suits.

What size are the suits? Maybe one of us dopers, with a little shipping (not to mention a “finders fee” for yourself), could provide a good home.

I’d actually thought about that while writing the OP. To be honest, I’d have to see if anyone else in the family would be interested first before giving them to a doper, but it’s not totally out of the question. I’ll post a new thread if it’s a no go for the family donation.
