Who’s watching the Nebraska v USC game?
That’s gotta hurt. The foot does not connect to the leg like that.
What painful injuries have you watched live in your past?

Just one – Joe Theismann’s broken leg.
Oh, and Evil Knievel, doing that canyon jump.
I remember seeing the photo on the cover of a magazine shortly after it happened. Haven’t seen it since. Tried searching for it once, but didn’t find it.
I didn’t see USC v Nebraska today, but I remember Tim Krumrie of the Bengals breaking his leg in Super Bowl XXIII. Not a pleasant sight.

. . . Which they showed over and over and over again: “Let’s see that from another angle.” “Let’s see that in slo-mo.” “Let’s see that again from yet another angle, in super-slo-mo.”
I vividly remember it because I had just dislocated my knee shortly before and was watching the game with my knee in a brace. Every time they showed the play I’d flash back to dislocating my knee and I’d wince in sympathy for him.
It’s out there – I don’t want to see it again, so I didn’t open any of the videos Google found, so I don’t know how long they take to load or how “good” they are.
About .50 seconds into the video. Don’t be eating when you watch it.
My brother and I were wandering around late at night with our good friend Mr. J. Daniels once, being silly and goofing on whatever we could find (by that point, steetlights were damn funny) when we came upon the scene of a motorcycle crash.
We must just missed the actual event but not by too much – The cops and paramedics and other people with flashing lights hadn’t arrived yet, only a small crowd of people trying to convince the rider not to thrash around too much, because his leg was obviously broken.
I say obviously, since generally legs don’t bend at the knee 90 degrees to the FRONT of one’s body.
He wasn’t having a good time of it, either, cos his thrashing about was sending his leg whipping around in the wrong direction for several minutes at least before the flashy-light folks arrived. We wisely left at that point, since there wasn’t much two drunk minors could have done, really.
Sure did put a damper on the evening, though. I can still make my brother shudder by saying “Hey, man, remember that one dude’s knee?”
Steve Ysermans injury when he slid knee first into the goalpost was ugly.
I remember that one. They kept saying “this is awful, we’ll never show that again” and then they’d show it again.
You can search Tim Krumrie at YouTube and see his break in all its glory. Why did I look for it?
I told you it was not a pleasant sight. This is why I didn’t include a link. Personally, I think it is worse than Theisman’s injury. From a viewer standpoint, at least.
Willis McGahee’s knee injury in his final college game. (http: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTjgj0SvzEo)
Clint Malarchuk had his throat cut by a skate during a hockey game. (http: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zvvz-HeOwSk)
Both links give me the willies, so I broke them. You can paste them into your browser - just delete the space after “http:”
I guess Tom Pryce’s death (and that of a race marshal) at Kyalami in the 70’s would qualify,
tho I didn’t personally witness it until years later. Do a Youtube search, if you consider yourself brave…
Ouch! I don’t think legs are supposed to bent at that angle. Poor guy.
When Jason Kendall shattered his leg running while running to first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1999.
Napoleon McCallum, a running back for the Oakland Raiders, dislocated his kneecap, torn three knee ligaments, ripped his calf and hamstring muscle and torn an artery in his knee after a tackle in a Monday Night Football game in 1994.
Oh, here is the link for the McCallum injury (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFSbh1qQNQU) it is very grusome.
So, I’m cooking spaghetti, and I got the tube on, and I hear something like, “We’ll only show this once!” and I look up and see my man’s knee aiming north and his foot facing east.
Yeah, that looked kinda painfull.
I am glad I missed it. Just the thought of Joe Theisman’s leg still gives me the willies.
Ok, that skinny fella from Alabama that made that spectacular catch last year behind the defender’s head had the most horrendous leg break later that season
