I didn't have a heart attack!

So in this thread(which incidentally got locked, go fig) I was concerned about some chest pains I’d been having and having to wait till Wednesday for an appointment.

Well today I went in to see the doctor. I had made sure they gave me someone who was NOT an asshole like my previous doctor. And boy did they do a good job! This was the absolute nicest, happiest, sweetest doctor I’ve ever been to in my life. I loved her. She seemed genuinely concerned about me, didn’t ever chide me on ‘overreacting’ or automatically blame my weight for my issues. She constantly was saying nice things to me, making conversation and explaining what she was doing and thinking.

Turns out it wasn’t my heart but my cartilage in my chest. It’s swollen or something. I’m not sure how it happened but she prescribed me some meds and reassured me that it would be fine. So yay. No heart problems! Yet. If anything this little scare definitely made me realize I have to do something about my weight and do it now. So I’m eating better and going to start exercising as much as possible. And I have a new Primary Doctor. Woohoo

I’ve had that! Intercostal chondritis! I didn’t think I was having a heart attack. I thought I had pleurisy. It is indeed painful and kinda scary.

That’s great news, AngelSof****t. Glad it was something so simple and fixable.

excellent!! congrats on the new doc. as well.

Glad to hear the good news! Especially about finding a doctor you like. I love mine.

Yay! And I’m glad you asked about your problem in the other thread (was it closed because of seeking medical advice?). It’s important for people to know that it’s important to go the dr. for chest pain, and lots of other folks got to hear that, not just you.

Glad to hear it was nothing serious!

Thank you for going to the doctor!

IANAD, okay?

A few years ago, one of our very popular hospital employees died in our ER of a heart attack.

Know what her husband told us?

“All day long, she couldn’t stop burpin’ and we gave her Mylanta, but it just didn’t help?”

Okay, belching because you had too much pizza/Mexican is one thing, but if it doesn’t go away after an antacid, and you start sweatin’, that means get your hiney to the ER.

You don’t ALWAYS have chest pain!

Sometimes it feels like indigestion.

Please get familiar with the symptoms.

AngelSoft, thanks for stayin’ alive, stayin alive! Hoo-Hoo-Hoo-Hoo…

Q

Thanks guys

If nothing else I definitely learned a lot more about heart attack symptoms from this ordeal! I had no idea women exhibited different signs than men! But now I know and knowing is half the battle!
