I Didn't Know He/She Died (Celebrities)

well, in my mind he was alive till Vislor spoke. I think I have a claim here…

When I was a teenager one of my sister’s friends fell in love with James Dean. She thought he was absolutely gorgeous.

Problem was, this was in 1982.

The friend was a bit shocked when my sister broke the news to her.

My friends and I were just talking about this recently. The surprises for me were:

[li]Dan Fogelberg[/li][li]Andy Hallett (Lorne from Angel)[/li][li]Richard Jeni (Jim Carrey’s buddy from The Mask)[/li][li]Andreas Katsulas (Romulan Ambassador Tomalak in a bunch of TNG episodes, one-armed man from the Harrison Ford remake of The Fugitive)[/li][li] Paul Gleason (Principal from Breakfast Club, Police Captain from Die Hard)[/li][/ul]

My brother came in the room teh other day when I was watching Don Juan de Marco and we started talking about Marlon Brando… and he didn’t know he was dead.

I know, but I often forget, that Colin Mcrae died.

:frowning:

I was very surprised to learn recently that he killed himself. :frowning:

Your local radio station was giving away tickets to his upcoming play and you were in the running?

A lot of people didn’t notice the day that Audrey Hepburn died. It was the day that Bill Clinton was sworn into office for the first time.

Tab Hunter is alive and 78.

and G’Kar on Babylon 5

Every now and then I’ll look up someone on IMDb, to find out where else I’ve seen them, and discover that they’ve been dead for a while. Two examples come to mind:

J.T. Walsh (Lt. Col Markinson in A Few Good Men, Big Bob in * Pleasantville*), heart attack in 1998 at age 54. Pleasantville is dedicated to him.

Warren Oates (Sgt. Hulka in Stripes, lots of old TV shows), heart attack in 1982 at age 53.

Similarly, very little notice was taken of C.S. Lewis’ death. He died on November 22, 1963.

Which, I didn’t notice, is exactly 46 years ago today. I was in first grade at the time.

A radio guy a few years back wanted to do an interview with Bob Marley. I guess someone told him he died in 1981.

I’ll assume that’s true without looking it up. November 22. 1963? As I remember there was some other stuff going on that weekend.

Hmm… according to Wikipedia, Aldous Huxley died the same day. That must explain why Lewis’ was ignored.

Were Lewis or Huxley on a grassy knoll at the time?

In case you have heard, Francisco Franco is still dead.

Darn I wish I had thought of that

I just found out that Merritt “Johnny Slash” Butrick from the show Square Pegs died in 1989 (of AIDS)

You mean Jim Kirk’s kid??
