I don’t know if you’ve maybe already done this, but it would definitely be worth seeing a specialist about your ankle pain. I injured my shoulder partially as a result of doing a kickboxing-style aerobics program (those things are deadly) and thought the injury was permanent. Actually, it was something that was fixable with a relatively simple surgical procedure and several weeks of physical therapy. The surgery was a little over a year ago and my shoulder is pain-free 95% of the time and I have full function in it. So if you haven’t been to see somebody about the ankle, I’d urge you to do so.
It was a choice I made, so don’t feel bad. I can’t tell you how many times I have injured myself by pushing too hard too fast. I really should have known better by now.
It doesn’t hurt constantly or anything, just when I walk for more than 20 minutes or so. And it seems to be getting a little stronger after every walk.
If it doesn’t get better within a couple of weeks of walking, I will see a doctor.
