The commercial features Donald Trump high atop a building, and he drops his card into a Dumpster down below. As he fishes it out, the narrator talks about how, in case of fradulent purchases, you’ll get “every … cent … back!” or something like that, whereupon Donald gets a funny look on his face and the narrator says, “Guess not.”

I believe the narrator starts off saying “Did you know … if your card is lost or stolen …?” as Trump is fishing around in the dumpster. Then as he gets to the line “you get every single cent back” Trump looks surprised, because he didn’t know that, otherwise he wouldn’t have rooted around in the dumpster to retrieve his card. Which is stupid because he wouldn’t have done that anyway, he would have sent some flunky to do it. But hey, I guess the Donald must have thought he wasn’t getting enough exposure and people might forget who he is or something. If only …
What’s funny is how the wind atop the skyscraper is strong enough to tear his credit card from his fingers, but not to ruffle his hair.
The question I have is this. If you found Trump’s credit card in a Manhattan dumpster, then used it to rent a limo full of hookers and champagne, would the bank think that anything was amiss?
Alimony joke? High tax bracket joke? Bad real-estate investment joke? Donald Trump has a huuuuuge spending limit and they’d never be able to pay it all back joke? I’m guessing it’s a vague combination of those. Sort of a “Rich guys have different problems” joke.
What ticks me off about the commercial is this – if you’re going to shoot a major commercial such as this, and you’re going to have a double do the dumpster-diving, can’t you at least attempt to have his wig look something like whatever Trump has on his head?? Sorry, but Trump does not have a mullet…

Ohhhhhh! I just saw this. What happened is you got the wording wrong. (I had to rewind it myself to double check it.)
The voice-over is something along the lines of:
“Everyone knows that your Visa Check card is directly linked to your checking account, but did you also know that in the event it’s lost or stolen you will be reimbursed for fradulent charges?”
Donald Trump: “You tell me AFTER I root through the dumpster?!” look
Voice over: “Guess not.”
The “Guess not” refers to the “did you ALSO know” part, not the reimbursement part. It’s fairly stupid.
