There’s a AAA insurance commercial in which Jill goes into a cleaners with some clothes. As she’s talking to the clerk, a runaway car t-bones her own car which is parked at the curb. At the instant of impact she obviously flinches, but the whole tone of the commercial is that she’s oblivous to any damage to her car, and she just goes out and drives away in an undamaged car. I get it that the incident is “invisible” to her as a AAA insured, but why the heck did she flinch if unaware? And not look back at the noise?
Stupid commercial!
Peace,
mangeorge
It’s handled so fast that it has no impact on her, even though she is aware of it.
or bad acting/bad directing and not caught in the editing…
I hope you don’t mind if I tack one on, since it’s related.
Another auto insurance commercial (I forget which brand) has two kids in the back seat. I think they’re playing some sort of game, but I can’t figure out the point.
Brother: This is a pen.
Sister: A what?
Brother: A pen.
Sister: Oh! A pen!
Sister: This is a hole.
Brother: A what?
Sister: A hole!
Then the car hits a huge pothole. Fortunately the mother is insured.
What is the point of the seemingly stupid game? Is this a real game? Am I missing something?
I have played a similar game. Only it’s played by a group of people who have been/still are drinking heavily. Substitute “thing” for “pen”, and keep passing the same message around in a circle for awhile, and there you have it.
Did I mention heavy drinking is involved?
a variation, for even drunker folk, is when the first thing gets to person two, person one starts with a new thing, so each person has to listen and talk at the same time. And actual items are passed around the circle
Yeah, that’s the game. It’s just that I don’t want to spend the hour or so that’s needed to explain the damn thing.
