I haven’t progressed as far as some here (only level 38, #18,803 in the standings). But I’ve got a +22 Invisible Lance. And you don’t. At least, you probably don’t. Hell, I don’t know…these things could be common as dirt for all I know.

Well, your strength rating will make a little bit of a difference, since that is more time in the killing fields and less time bartering with the mysterious shopkeep who can somehow manage to drive demand for the items you collect in direct proportion to your experience level.
A mysterious man indeed.
My take on this is that when you advance a level, you get stuck into the standings above all other players at that level. So the longer you stay at one experience level, you’ll slowly drift down the standings until the next time you advance. Just my WAG. It definitely doesn’t look to me as if the standings are based on anything but level – prime stat, favorite tactic, and equipment all seem to be purely decorative.

Don’t think that’s it. I was looking at my stats and there was a guy higher in ranking than me, but at a lower experience level.
Yeah, I’ve seen that, too. I’ve glanced over the rankings quite a few times and I can’t see any rhyme or reason to them.
Had you just raised a level? The rankings supposedly take 15 minutes to update.
Also, I forgot to say earlier that I really wish the rankings were searchable by rank, so I could see how groovy I have to be to be in the top 5000, for example.
Ctrl-B forces your standings to update without having to wait.
I just don’t get it. Sigh. Let’s see where I’m at now…

I’m not sure it does, at least not for me. If I Ctrl-B before I gain a level, or change equipment, or raise my prime stat, then leave the rankings window open, and Ctrl-B again after the change takes place, it’s not reflected on my entry in the rankings. I have tested this multiple times.
