I think so. Besides what other people have noted,

He somehow gets hit by the train while he’s dreaming. Even if he got off the train, he shouldn’t have been able to be hit by that same train.

Am I the only one who remembers that the man did not cut out his tongue.

He had his vocal chords severed. Cutting out his tongue would have allowed him to make guttural sounds/noise.
