…thyroid pills, to be exact.
I cannot goddam believe my absent-minded dad. He travels all the time, and is totally mentally with it - but he always forgets stuff when travelling. Always has, my whole life. One fly-in, canoe-out camping trip was made “more interesting” when he forgot an entire backpack full of food.
Anyway, he is travelling to San Diego from Toronto, and I get this frantic call at the office from mom at the airport - the plane is just about to take off, and he has forgotten his thyroid pills at home!
Now, he needs those pills for his thyroid condition. My mom tells me to go to their house, find the pills (left in a prominent place specifically so he would not forget them), and fedex them down to the hotel in the US.
Naturally, I would go myself, but my wife has the car, so I call her & get her to do it. No big problem …
… EXCEPT, that my wife finds out that to send drugs by courier legitimately into the US requires a stack of paperwork the size of a small bible, including all sorts of stuff we either don’t have or cannot get easily - and will likely take days to process! The alternative is to find the doctor, and get him to send a copy of the prescription down to the US for dad to get filled there - and I don’t know who the doc in question is, or whether they are available. Certainly, it will not happen tonight. It may not be possible at all - if he is away, or there may be other delays and complications.
Anyway, I told my wife to forget the forms and just smuggle the damn pills in the fedex envelope, in the hope that they will not be found. I simply cannot risk my dad not having his pills.
I will simultaneously attempt to get ahold of the prescription.
Any other suggestions or ideas?
