I Found a Dollar on the Ground Today

Today at work, out in this town,
I saw a dollar on the ground.
I looked and looked and looked around,
But its owner was not found.

This dollar was not earned by me,
And what of the mor-al-i-ty?
What is the i-den-ti-ty,
Of the chap whose buck I see?

Maybe some kid’s allowance pay,
With which, perhaps, to buy some clay?
Or a donation to United Way?
What it’s for, I cannot say!

Alas, I thought, this is a chance,
From God, for He all blessings grants.
Soon this buck is swarmed with ants,
Or it can go into my pants.

How to spend this buck? Makes my head ache,
What sort of purchase can I make?
Ah! The lottery; what’s this night’s stake?
Forty million, give or take!

Thank you, thank you. I’ll be here all week. [sub]Try the veal, it’s delicious.[/sub]

There’s where that dollar went! I was on my way to buy some Play-Doh, and when I reached in my pocket, it was gone!

Give it back!
