Best I’ve done is a couple of fours…and I went back to the films of Thomas Fin’ Edison*!
By the way, Cecil(y) Adams is a 3.
got it, found #10, opus1 is it WRS?
Excellent job, brother rat!
For all those wondering, no, I’m not going to tell you who it is. That kind of takes all the fun out of the game. But there is a very big clue somewhere in this thread that should help you link all the way to #10.
Got me a 7 = George Dewey (I)
for those of us who are overwhelmed by stuff to do already, if we ask nicely in Email, will you tell?
And did you happen to find the person who has the "worst’ number, the opposite of Bacon? Kevin’s average is 2.66, and the worst person’s average is 11. something. Amazing.
stoid
Yay! Yippee! They should give you a special screen or something for finding the 10. That was a good clue.
Now what sort of obscure trivia can I use to prove I got it… Well rat already took the initials, and most things would be too obvious. How about, this person’s spouse was 27 years younger than they?
thanks opus. once I figured out my technique I was able to bring it home. although now I think I may become obsessed with those 11 people are claiming in the hall of fame, although I think it may not exist anymore. can’t tell. blast!!!
The best I can do is a five: Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. If I don’t stop now, I’ll be up all night.
Well I finally got a 6…but I had to go to 1940’s China to find her!
Still searching…
I personally am 3 degrees from Kevin Bacon.
Meg Tilley stayed in the hotel I worked at in Lake Louise, Alberta, while she was filming a truly awful movie called “Leaving Normal” (with Christine Lahti).
I was her personal housekeeper. Oh the joy.
Ahh yes, the Canuck Connection. I’d almost forgotten.
As a relative (I’m guessing three times removed) of Mary Pickford (Bacon number 3), that gives me a Bacon number of 6.
Then again, I met Michael Skupin of Survivor II a couple of weeks ago. Since he’s in the IMDb, and he’s got a Bacon number of infinity…
That gives me Infinity + 1!!! Woo Hoo!
[sub](That’s gotta be higher than 10, right?)[/sub]
I also have a Bacon number of 3. Last summer, Tony Bennett stayed at the hotel where I was a housekeeper. Apparently, he was in “The Scout” with Anne Twomey, who was in “Picture Perfect” with Kevin Bacon.
I think Kevin Bacon has powerful cosmic forces that none of us can even begin to understand.
I found it!!! YIIPPPEEEEE!!!
On a bit of a lower note, here’s a quote from the Oracle of Bacon Hall of fame:
I guess this means there’s an 11 out there somwhere…
Oh. My. God. Found him. WRS, in SoGT, and MGS.
Now, time for sleep. Oy.
I’m a 2.
Met Ellen Barkin on the set of “Made in Heaven”, and she was in a movie with him in 1983.
stoid
Who still wants to know who it is, dammit.
That is, if they saw you on the street, they’d say “oh, that’s so-and-so”
Stoid, you do not have a Bacon number of 2, unless you were an actor in “Made In Heaven.”
SallySimpson, you do not have a Bacon number of 3.
Paul The Younger, GingerOfTheNorth, neither of you either.
Y’all have missed the concept: These are all people who have appeared in movies with people who have appeared in movies who…with Kevin Bacon. Just knowing people with a connection is not enough. It’s about actors.
And even as I type this I think I’ve realized who is 10. Let me post this, check it, then post again.
I did it. Now I can get some work done.
It’s all your fault, Opal, you really reamed us with that one. Yeah, you gave it to us indeed.
Haj
No, Fiver, we got the concept.
It burns within all of us to believe that we are somehow special, different from the rest of the pack. That we can walk down the street holding our head high, secure in the knowledge that we ARE somebody…WE HAVE A PLACE IN THIS WORLD…
WE HAVE…A BACON NUMBER!!!
[sub]So what if we gotta bend the rules a bit? I think you’re just jealous 'cause you never got to clean up a Hollywood movie star’s toilet or shake hands with a Survivor. So there![/sub]
[hijack] BTW, his hands had healed up very nicely. The skin was a little thick, but otherwise looked quite normal. Very surprising, but I didn’t have time to ask him about it.[/hijack]
Congratulations Opus1! Finding a Bacon number of 10 must be extremely hard. I see from the Hall of Fame that less than 10 people have found Bacon numbers of 10 or 11.
I’ll have to disagree though that “finding people with Bacon numbers above 3 is damn near impossible.” It depends on how you approach it. For the average person, thinking of an actor you remember and plugging his/her name will not give you a very high Bacon number.
But if you go to IMDb, search movies by year or by country (IMDb search central - click on “year” or “country” in the left-hand navigation bar), and pick very old movies or older films from a foreign country, you can find Bacon numbers above three fairly easily. In about 8 minutes I found a Bacon number of 6 by trying actors in movies made in Albania.
The Oracle says: Mevlan Shanaj has a Bacon number of 6.
Mevlan Shanaj was in Guximtaret (1970) with Tinka Kurti
Tinka Kurti was in Tana (1958) with Kadri Roshi
Kadri Roshi was in Kur zbardhi nje dite (1971) with Timo Flloko
Timo Flloko was in Angel’s Dance (1999) with Kevin (I) Cooney
Kevin (I) Cooney was in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) with Clint Howard
Clint Howard was in My Dog Skip (2000) with Kevin Bacon
