If, as it looks increasingly likely, it turns out that dorkus was NOT contacted by the Police, but rather, by the offending driver or agents of therein - here’s what I think has happened.
(1) Dorkus has filled out a perfectly watertight Police Report and Complaint.
(2) The offending driver has been served with a warrrant for reckless driving and endangerment of bodily harm, and has seen dorkus’s name and address on the warrant.
(3) The offending driver (being a dimwit) has decided that the best course of action woud be to impersonate a police officer and attempt to intimidate dorkus into dropping the initial complaint by asserting that a later, contradictory complaint has been entered.
If Points (1) thru (3) are true, I reckon now that it’s become a detective matter. First up, it should be possible to contact the phone company’s to see who put the call through to Dorkus’s home, and from where the call came from. If it turns out that the call came directly from the Offending Driver’s home - he’s toast - absolutely toast I rather think. This very thread, in real time, will be sufficient weight to at least convict the Offending Driver of making harassing phone calls, let alone impersonating a Police Officer.
Dorkus? Fear not… no decent Police Officer in the land would serve a warrant for your arrest under the circumstances without first interviewing you a 2nd time to corroborate later changes in the story. It’s all bullshit I rather think - and the Offending Driver is most likely in big trouble. Possibly an unlicensed driver too.
