My experience (regular old LASIK, around three years ago) was that I got out of the chair seeing around 20/100. I got driven home and went to sleep immediately (probably tiredness due to stress) Woke up mid-afternoon around 20/60. Next morning I was around 20/40, and on waking the next day I was 20/15 in one eye, 20/30 in the other. (all numbers except the last two are estimates.)
rundogrun, I thought night hazing was the most common side effect. Did I understand correctly that this occurs in less than 1% of cases?
robinh, when you think of laser surgery, you think “Hey, that’d make it easier to find my glasses!”? I may have a weird sense of humor, but I think that’s pretty darn funny.
My firend told me her friend went to Montreal to get the surgery because they are good at it (?!) and way cheaper than the States… Any of you know??
I want this surgery so bad…
We are all saying it is expensive… what is expensive for you? I heard of $ 2500 per eye… is that an accurate figure?
I had my eyes done about 2 1/2 yrs ago and I still see perfectly. Sometimes I have mild night hazing but no worse then what I had with contacts so I have no complaints. I think I paid $2400 per eye. By the way, I didn’t take the valium.
I paid $4500. I did notice in the paper today an ad for both eyes for $1850 total…the doctor’s credentials seemed good insofar as he had lots of experience and was head of Refractive surgery at a local hospital.
It makes sense that Canada could be cheaper because of the value of the dollar. I’ll let the Canadian dopers handle that one.
