I got my grades! They didn't suck!

I get to keep my academic scholarship!

[happy dance]

1 semester down, 5 to go.

I’ve been appreciating all the euphemism present during the grades season. I wonder if it’s the same at your law school. Here, the unspoken rule is that no one should ever reveal his/her grades, but one should offer some vague statement like, “I’m content with what I got” or “More or less what I expected.” Indeed, there’s something of a scale of euphemism from (presumably an A/A-) “I’m happy, but I think I didn’t do as well in other courses” to (presumably B-/B) “Could have been better, could have been worse.”

Obviously grades are a personal matter that you needn’t reveal, but it is a little weird (to me) that even if you don’t care you shouldn’t reveal them. But then, this culture surrounding grades didn’t exist at my undergraduate college, so I’m just sort of learning the ropes.

Anyway, congratulations (or consolations, I can’t quite tell). :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL. I did pretty dang good: 3.57. I still haven’t figured out how to figure my rank.

But, to your point, at law school I only share grades with my study group. Seems to be the “done thing”… not totally sure why. We don’t have the encoded euphamisms… but then, we’re just 1Ls… perhaps, in time, we will.

IMHO, nothing beats the classic “I passed! I passed!”.

I see that I’ll have to recalibrate my euphemism matrix. “They didn’t suck” is far too humble for a 3.57. I would think that puts you in the top 20%.

What are you thinking about summer jobs?

Lemme just plug that into my translator…hmm: B-. (Just kidding, do they even grade the thing you passed?)

We didn’t even get our marks back from the exam, just a pass/fail letter from the Ministry. I would have liked to know where I went wrong…

Oh, and my apologies to the OP. Congratulations!

Congratulations. Enjoy your victory. Luck with future semesters.

Wow, congrats!

As a student who won’t be getting the big, inportant final grades til July, let me say: I am soo jealous…

And yes, today (at least in the IB) it is considered very bad form to give your exact grades. Ballpark (e.g. I’m a 36-38-pointer) is, however, acceptable.

I am looking for either a private-section job, hopefully with the opportunity to focus on Copyright, or a public-sector internship with a Public Defender or reproductive rights organization. I applied for a Fellowship in the event I take a public sector job, but I wont hear about that till the end of the month.

Why, ya hiring?

Score one for the good guys! I just received my final grade for my nondestructive evaluation/assay class. A- baby! There was a misunderstandingscheduling conflict with the instructor, so I didn’t present my final project until Friday. But the grade came in today, I was pretty pleased with myself.

Congrats! This news makes me really happy. And it’s nice to ‘see’ you, and you are missed around here. I mean, you know, Michigan.
