This morning my friend Scott took my old bed away in his pickup truck, to be donated to the church rummage sale. At just a few minutes after two, my new sleep system arrived.
*note: a sleep system is a twin-sized bed that cost $1200, plus shipping, and didn’t come with a headboard.
I lay on it for a while, very comfy, and my spine made little cracking sounds, followed by feeling somewhat better. Now that my sheets are out of the dryer, I can try taking an actual nap, or maybe I’ll just lay here, read, and enjoy the comfyness.
And it is very comfy. I lay on it, and it just molds to my body. Cozy. And I got two free pillows- gave one to my mom, she doesn’t like hers, but I love mine.
Hopefully, this will go a long way towards curing my chronic back problems. I’ve heard that a good mattress is more than half the battle.
I’m so jealous! Our non-Tempur-Pedic mattress is only two years old so it will be some time before we would be in the market, much less have the money for the California King Size that we would need. But I LOVE my Tempur-Pedic pillow. I refer to it as the “ffffflessshhhhyyyy pillow” because… well, if you’ve felt one, you know why. It’s just the perfect sleep surface. I don’t notice any temperature difference in the stuff itself, but it’s supposed to respond to your body heat and pressure so that you are supported but not feeling any pressure points. I think it lives up to that claim to the point that I’d spend the extra moolah for the mattress if only ours were not so new.
Been resting mostly since it arrived- had a bout of insomnia, so I have some sleep to catch up. It seems a bit warm, but that’s probably because of the flannel sheets.
Now my mom wants one, but she can’t afford it, and I can’t afford to buy her one- she’ll have to get her own tax refund.
I can’t stand squishy beds (they make my back hurt since I sleep on my side) and my SO doesn’t like my rock hard futon. I dream of the day when I can afford a tempur-pedic mattress. My brother has the head support cushion… shhffgghrrrlll <gurgly noise of bliss>
I would say that my back problems are, um, generic. Kinks around the sacroiliac and between the shoulder blades, which will cause the muscles to go into spasm if I don’t make regular trips to the chiropractor. No herniated disks or anything like that.
Just got up a little while ago from a very nice night’s sleep, free from my usual tossing and turning. Back isn’t great, but not as bad as it’s been lately.
If you can afford one of these things, go for it. If you can’t afford the whole sleep system, but you already have a really sturdy frame and box springs, you can get a mattress, or even just a Tempur foam overlay for your current mattress.
We finally ditched the waterbed and got a Tempurpedic a few months ago and we love it. If you get one from the factory you get two pillows. We bought ours from a dealer and he only gave up the two free pillows when I showed him the pamphlet from the factory.
If you think about it, can you e-mail me about this bed? I’ve been considering the investment, but I’ve never known anyone who has one. I’d love to hear form people who are using them.
Is that the one with the commercial, where they show the woman setting a glass of ice tea on the mattress, and then shifting and laying down, and the glass doesn’t move an inch?
My mattress is just a couple of years old (eh, maybe two?). It’s so perfect-firm enough for support, but soft enough that it molds around me. Well, that’s because of the foam padding I put on it (one of those egg crate thingies).
Isn’t there also a Tempura-Pedic mattress pad? From what I hear, it’s comparable to the actual mattress, but some doper testimony would be welcome too.
I’m so glad someone resurrected this thread. I have DirectTV now so I get tons of infomercials. Every time that damn infomercial comes on I wonder who the hell it was that spent their tax refund on it and how it’s working for them.
Then I fall asleep and forget about it until the next time I see the infomercial.
