I had maple syrup from MY tree on my oat groats this past weekend

This thread reminds me of first taste of pure maple syrup. I was floored, literally amazed that something this good was available (expensive, but available) but my family used Log Cabin for years…or worse that sugar-free crap… What was I thinking?

For us it’s our mushrooms. We have a journal to help keep track of where to check and when. Chicken mushrooms, turkey tail, ink caps, Dryad’s saddle, wild oysters, etc. There’s a huge flush of Chanterelles each year that we revisit and tell nobody about. My nephew has a morel spot he is super secretive about. We swap.
