Generally quest givers are unkillable until you’ve completed all the quests (the little crown instead of face when you point at them indicates this). Once that goes you should be able to kill him without missing quests.
You didn’t have to kill Schemer! He didn’t hurt anyone, you sicko.
Patience with Lucien.
Indeed, patience with Lucien. I found the Dark Brotherhood questline the most fun of all (closely folowed by the Shivering Isles expansion)…
Well, I see I’m too late to help you cure your vampirism, but there is another way: Font of Renewal | Elder Scrolls | Fandom
It’s a lot easier!
Also - when you have to go to Fort Farragut to meet Lucien, there’s a trap door in side a big tree near the fort. It goes straight to his sanctuary so you don’t have to fuss with killing all those annoying skeletons.
I’ve been playing sporadically for a while; as I’ve been distracted by Bioshock 2. I’m still enjoying Oblivion, but now I have a major criticism of the game. Every NPC and every monster in the game levels up as I do. No matter how much I increase my stats, I’m not getting any more powerful relative to my enemies. Goblins are still just as difficult to defeat now as they were when I was a 'lil baby Nightblade with rough leather armor and a rusty iron short sword. The only way to get over this seems to be through possession of powerful magic weapons. A bit of cursory reading around the web indicates that I am not alone in this criticism and those who play on PC have developed a patch to correct matters. I, alas, as an Xbox 360 player have no such choice.
The easiest solution was simply not to level. My skills advanced, I got better gear, and I felt less like I was treading water. Every so often I would rest and level, but until the end of the game, I always had excess levels in reserve that I could take as needed when I was happier with my place on the power curve.
My main character in Oblivion is a vampire. It’s easy. Just stop sleeping so fucking much. You’ll never advance in vampirism and you’ll actually get a BOOST to your charisma. Only sleep for an hour in the evening when you want to level and then feed.
I’ve never once had to deal with getting hurt by the sunlight or people running away from me. I don’t even think about it.
