My daughter is going into 5th grade. She’s extremely bright, but also very distractable and so school is sometimes difficult for her. Social interactions can be difficult as well–some of the kids tease her at school. (I’ll be consulting with her doc about meds this year, and we’ll see what comes from that.)
She loves to write stories, books, and letters, and I think an old-fashioned mailbox-type penpal would be a lot of fun for her. Her interests mostly center around animals, music (Selena Gomez to Lady Gaga, mostly. Justin Beiber, but that’s a secret!), and roblox and other online games.
If anyone has such a child who might enjoy writing back and forth, pm me and maybe we can set something up. Or, if anyone has a good resource where she may find someone, that would be great too.
I’m going to bump this for you because I don’t have anything to suggest but I hope someone else does.
Bricker Jr is also going into 5th grade this fall, but I am pretty confident the “old fashioned” requirement would be a deal breaker, He likes e-mail but would chafe at the delay of stamps and envelopes.
PM sent.
Awesome…I have a couple of matches for my daughter! She’s very excited.
Now her 12 year old brother wants in on the action–but I’m not convinced he’ll be satisfied with paper letters either. Like Bricker Jr, he’s pretty into the instant gratification of email and such.
I’ve got one that sounds just like yours, same age, same interests. Let me know if you want another pen pal - or if anyone else does for that age. I can see if he’s interested!
- don’t know if you have found a pen pal for your daughter. My daughter is also going into 5th grade. She is an A & B student. She is a Christian. And a Girl Scout. Sarah likes Selena Gomez, but not Justin Bieber. She is bored and would like a pen-pal, either on paper or on e-mail. I will check this message board later this evening. thanks, Jean*
You could look into post crossing. It’s like Omegle, but with actual postcards. You request an address from the website, mail the postcard to the address, wait to receive a postcard, then register the received postcard in the system.
My daughter’s just turning 7, she’s in her first year of school in Singapore.
Reads well, writes in full (if short) sentences - I also want a “traditional” pen pal for her if anyone has suggestions.
