The Lion Brand Homespun is soooooo soft! Comes in great colors too. From now on you’ll have to ask for gift certificates from Joann’s for birthdays and holidays.
My Grandma taught me to knit 40 years ago. My Mom taught me to purl 38 years ago. I taught myself (from books) how to do slip stitches and cables and all kinds of fun stuff since then. It can be a lifelong addiction.
I checked out all the neat web sites everyone’s been posting here and I’m in heaven. I had to look up Bakkake? and koigu .
My Ex knew how to solve a Rubiks cube, it had something to do with lining up the same color on the corners. (I don’t remember)
( Sung to the cadence of “Chicken Soup With Rice” , by Maurice Sendak )
Once our Shirley dropped a loop
Sitting on her building’s stoop
Sweater, for her kid with croup.
Perl it once,
Perl it twice,
Perl it till it’s shaped like dice.
(second verse. read with increased gusto. )
Ivylass holds hers in left
Leaving right hand quite bereft
Gosh, that girl is quite adept !
Perl it once,
Perl it twice,
Perl it till it’s shaped like dice.
Continental stylin’ Lass
Tucks yarn balls against her ass
Hope this one ain’t too darned crass.
Perl it once,
Perl it twice,
Perl it till it’s shaped like dice.
Socks will come and socks will go
Anklebone to tiny toe
Just don’t wear them in the snow !
Perl it once,
Perl it twice,
Perl it till it’s shaped like dice.
Cecil wears a size fourteen
Color his like Ovaltine
(Slug will make that drawing keen)
Perl it once
Perl it twice
Perl it till it’s shaped like dice.
Knit a doll with dangly bits
Hoo-ha, boobies- wait, they’re tits !
That’ll give yer grammy fits.
Perl it once
Perl it twice
Perl it till it’s shaped like dice.
Shirley’s jonesin’ patterns new
Pinky green and orange blue
Hubby thinks her mind’s kerfloo.
Perl it once,
Perl it twice,
Perl it till it’s shaped like dice.
'Tooniverse thought he was quick
Turning phrases like a wit
Now he feeils like quite a twit !! Purl it once, Purl it twice, Purl it till it’s shaped like dice.
While waiting for Wilma to cross the state, I finished a cell phone cover. It has a knitted strap, and I used a pattern for a knitted rose to make the button. So one side of the strap is sewed on, and the other has a long tail to wrap about the button so you can loop it through your belt loop or over your purse.
I just got back from a quickie trip to Niagara Falls with zee german relations. The men sat in the front seats listening to Sports radio. The kids (3) sat in the middle watching SpongeBob nonstop and us Mom’s (2) sat in the 3rd seat and knitted all the way there and all the way back. 10 hours of knitting in two days. The 3rd scarf I have made is mostly done. ( I can even knit in the near pitch dark.)
To Whomever invented knitting, thank you very much.
<--------- Waves linen hankie around, bows deeply. Thank you. Thank you all so very much. You’re too kind.
Whaddya mean, I missed my calling? My poety is better than my photography? :sobs:
Things we truly never imagined someone would knit.
Cellular phone case.
Mayonnaise jar.
Seat covers for 1962 Volkswagen beetle. ( though… in the bitter cold of winter, knowing how the heaters in bugs sucked, this might sell very well on eBay. )
