Today when I started my computer, I got a warning from Norton about a “potentially mailicious script” called gshp.vbs. Not a second later (I’m on a LAN, so Aol Instant Messenger automatically signs on whenever I start my computer) I start getting porn IM spams.
I managed to quarantine the gshp.vbs, but I still got porn IMs. Now I did piss someone off online this week, so I don’t know if the two are related. Someone may have given my handle to a porn site, so there’s nothing I could do other than block all the IMers or change my handle.
So what is this file I’ve quarantined? Is it enough that I’ve quarantined it or do I need to delete it from my file registry? Are there instructions online as to how to do this?
If the script sent your AIM ID to porn spammers, it’s pretty much too late. They have your ID, and they can spam you as long as you use that ID. Maybe it’s time to make a new AIM ID.
Once the bastards get your screen name, it’s all over. You could set it up so that no one except the people on your buddy list can contact you, but that’s more like admitting defeat than winning.
first of all Me is a nightmare, included in that is ie6, which totally screws up Me even more and you can not uninstall it…thank you bill gates.
second, if it weren’t for porn there would be no internet. porn is the energy source that fuels the internet.
third if you are using outlook express you can go to message/block sender every time you get unwanted email…this is a never ending process, but it does help and at least gives you the feeling you are almost in charge.
