So you’re saying that if I dedicated myself right now to studying everything I could about every candidate, I still shouldn’t be allowed to vote?
You’re saying that if Gore or Bush comes out tomorrow and says “Ya know, I always hated them niggers and fags” I wouldn’t be allowed to go back to undecided?
You’re saying that if I was undecided not because I was mal-informed, but because I just didn’t have an answer at this point and was still collecting information, that wouldn’t be all right with you?
You’re saying that picking a candidate for whatever assinine reason you deem worthy is better than being undecided?
You’re saying that the undecideds don’t care about the political system in this country?
You’re saying that…oh wait. Simpsons is on. I’ll finish later.
I’ll have to agree with youPIT. This isn’t a game of darts with random choices acceptable. Everyone make up your own minds, vote and live with the results.
Hey, Pit, I’m a bleeding-heart, hard-line, rabid, flaming moderate. And I don’t like the choices offered to us for president this time around. I’m not rich enough to benefit from Bush’s deep tax cuts, and I’m too leery on Gore’s proposals for censorship.
This year especially, it seems to me, the two major party candidates are both following Clinton’s successful statagy of attempting to stake out the middle (as opposed to the stident right or bleeding heart left) to lure voters. Neither have impressed (me anyway). I’ve listened to the debates, and tried to read their platforms.
The W. appears too often to be lacking conviction, has difficulty articulating himself which causes him to look dumb, and has a spotty record, at best, in politics and the private sector.
Al seems to be riding on Clinton’s coattails one minute and trying to disassociate himself from Clinton the next minute. I get the feeling that not much will change if Al is elected.
Its easy to be undecided when there are lousy choices. And I don’t have the time or the energy to try to start a revolution. I’ve got a job and need to take care of my kids. So what will I do with my vote? Probably vote for Ralph Nader. As for claims that my vote will be wasted, I will disagree. I know what Ralph has been doing the last thirty years as a consumer advocate (as opposed to W.'s blank spots in his resume) so I feel I can respect the candidate for whom I’m voting. If enough people abandon the two entrenched parties it may be possible to create a viable third party.
As you can guess, if I were one of those surveyed today, I’d answer ‘undecided’ when asked about my vote. But I will vote, and I think it will be a rational and educated vote.
From the sound of your rant, sounds like there are many ‘undecideds’ out there like me. If there were no surveys, you wouldn’t know it though.
Well, the reason I say I’m undecided is because I don’t really want to get into it with people.
I’m not undecided - I’m thirty four years old, have watched every debate, and know EXACTLY who I’m going to vote for. I’m not a freakin moron (as your rant seems to accuse me of).
But, when you get a bunch of people together (oh let’s say my outside smoking buddies) and they ask you and you tell them, watch the ensuing fun as everyone calls everyone else an idiot - gives the democrats the kudos for not only our economy but the internet, and every other good fluffy bunny kinda thing out there and making the republicans out to be blood sucking leaches and a pox on all humanity. Yes, this is a very liberal workplace. And frankly, I don’t need it. I have a point to every one of theirs, and frankly I’m tired of being called a :spit on the ground: Republican asshole. And try to get them to admit they might be wrong?? Yeah right. I’ll get this pesky middle east problem taken care of before THAT’s going to happen.
I am not going to tell ANYone who I’m voting for - I’ve heard enough propaganda and bullshit from the television and the candidates themselves - I don’t want to hear it from other people.
Yeesh. I’m glad we only have to do this every 4 years.
