I have become a fertility goddess!

Well…sortof. I found out that I was pregnant at me regular doctor’s. A few weeks later I went back to have my thyroid levels checked and the nurse told me that after I found out I was pregnant, two more of the doc’s patients and one of the staff members there all found out that they were pregnant!
Then I just found out the other day that one of my husband’s co-worker’s wives is pregnant! That’s a weird bunch of co-incidences!

So who needs some fertility mojo? Anyone out there trying to get pregnant? Let me know and I will wave my fertility charged sheaves o’ wheat in your direction (wheat was a fertility symbol in the middle ages)!

LOL. Not trying myself (or for quite awile at least), but congrats to you, moggy!! Is this your first one?

Moggy… send some kiddo-mojo my way… ummm wait…wait a few months… I have a pre-paid ski membership for next year, getting preg now will mean I wont ski much or at all…

Ummm but me and the luffomylife really want to start this business… have been trying for six months now.

Hmmm… figguring skiing is a late november until April dealie here (except Glacier skiing) when would be the best time to concieve…?

Sure, I’ll take some baby mojo if you can spare it.

Oh, and a man too, while you’re at it.

In no particular order.

Zoggie, yes, it is my first! Been having ups and downs because of severe nausea & vomiting (wrote a thread about it a couple weeks ago, just started a “Pregnant Dopers Check in” thread in IMHO). I’m 11 weeks along and can’t wait for the second trimester to get here!

Julie, maybe you should wait to conceive until the end of the skiing season, say April, just to be on the safe side. Although you aren’t “technically pregnant” right away- it takes a couple weeks for the whole procedure (egg gets fertilized, starts developing, makes the trip down the fallopian tube, implants in the uterus, etc.)
My hubby and I were trying for a few months too, and here’s what I discovered: I got one of those Ovulation Predictor Kits, which are good, because they tell you before you ovulate, which is what you want. (you want the sperm to already be in there when the egg is released) BUT, I noticed that the directions, and instructions I have come across in books and on the web, only seem to work if you have a period every 28 days and your cycle never deviates from one month the the next.
With me, my cycle was 27 days one month, then the next month it would be 30 days, then for 2 months after that it would be 33 days apart. Most instructions tell you that “Ovulation occurs approx. 14 days after the first day of your last period”. Well, if your periods are irregular like mine, throw that out the window. I’m figuring that I got pregnant between 11-13 days after my last period (yes, I was writing everything down, including when we made love).
I am not a doctor or a fertility specialist, I just know what worked for me. Good luck!

Hey thanks Moggy… I was also thinking in terms of when pregnancy wont interfere… ie I dont mind skiing pregnant(like a wee bit…and on easy runs… no crazy scary black diamonds or back bowl sking through spanky’s ladder) … but I dont want to miss next season…

I’ve been thinking February, since I’d only be a wee bit preg till I stopped around end of march or so… then Id deliver in late fall in time for next season (as if I’d have the time or money to go)

and thanks for the low down on the kits. I am a nurse, I have the info, and I figured it was no good for me since Im wildly irregular… (in every sense) But since Im a nurse on a dementia unit, pregnancy isnt really something I see every day…so Im not up on all the kits etc and if they work…

oh…wait…blushing of course I won’t be pregnant before september…because thats when I’m getting married… and of course…people can’t get pregnant if they arent married, right?
