awesome…im smoke free for 3 months…it gets easier as the days go by…stay strong…best of luck
I quit Nov. 8th, 2002. Still going strong…but have discovered that I am addicted to chewing gum.
25 years next month, about the only good thing (well, two kids too) I got from my ex-. She said she’d move in with me if I gave it up, and I did, and she did, but otherwise I wish I hadn’t and she didn’t.
My last cigarette was about the middle of May, 2003.
My next cigarette will be somewhere in October, 2003.
I’m a Stage Manager for the local community college theatre department. I only smoke in the last half of a show (This one opens November 7; I anticipate the stress getting to be too much about mid-October.)
I only smoke as a way of relieving stress. Usually, a pack will last for one show; anything left over, I give away to any smokers in the cast. But the last show I did (Machinal, May '03) took two packs. Difficult show, difficult cast, difficult tech process.
I’ve been smoke free for 1 year, 2 months, 1 week, 1 day, 12 hours, 4 minutes and 13 seconds.
8730 cigarettes not smoked, saving $1,462.28.
Life saved: 4 weeks, 2 days, 7 hours, 30 minutes.
Hang in there squeegee. It’s harder than hell, but so worth it!
Actually, I miscalculated. It’s just now coming up on 54 hours. Bah.
The gum helps a lot, but I’m sick to death of it. Maybe some toothpick-chewing in in order.
Why the fuck couldn’t I be addicted to granola or something, dadgummit.
You paid $1.20 a pack, Shayna ? Wow, cigs are cheap in L.A.
Actually, you miscalculated again. It’s the brain fuzz from nicotine withdrawal – expect that to continue for the next couple of days or so.
I bought them by the carton and paid $33.50 per carton, or, $3.35 per pack (I smoked a “generic” brand called Basic).
3.35 ÷ 20 = 0.1675 each
8730 x 0.1675 = 1,462.28
(And no, I didn’t sit and do that long-hand in the above post. I have the SilkQuit stop smoking meter on my computer.)
Keep up the good work, though!!
Whoops, that’s what I get for doing the math while my kid is watching Power Rangers, loudly, in the same room.:o
Two years this October.
Eight months, one week, one day, 17 hours, 49 minutes and 41 seconds. 6293 cigarettes not smoked, saving €1,812.24. Life saved: 3 weeks, 20 hours, 25 minutes.
Last cigarette July 4th, 1984.
Sept 25, 1989, @ 8AM, / 5101 Days / 127525 cigaretts.
$21,360.00 at 16.7 cents each.
Congrats to all and stick with it. You will never regret it. I quit in 1981 after smoking for about 20 years.
About 10 ½ years now.
Tomorrow it will be two months. I quit on my 60th birthday. So did my husband. We’ve already saved $366. I’m glad we didn’t quit when I was 18. We would have saved only $30.

I had my very last ever cigarette 131 days ago, on May 6th.
I am one of those rare ones who could take it or leave it. One day my brain kicked in and said “leave it, dumbass”, so I did. I have no idea what day it was, but it’s been over 10 years.
