Went on a website that was offering CyberMonday deals. I’ve shopped this website several times before, and they had a nice deferred payment thing that I’ve used several times, paying by my Visa check card. I had planned to order a dress from them, but the whole 30% off and free shipping deal made my decision for me, so I started the ordering process. But wait, they only do the deferred payment (90 days, same as cash, basically) if you use one of their house brand credit cards, which I don’t have.
So I’m debating how much I want this dress, which I’ve been planning on ordering for a while now, when I notice that they say I’m pre-approved for their card, just apply! Well, I’ve been down this road before, and figure I’ll get told no, and I’m fine with paying with my check-card right now. But I go ahead and apply, and am asked for only two minor bits of information, and the screen resets, first telling me the server was too busy, then I try again and the screen goes back to where it was and now it says I’m approved, and to proceed to checkout or keep shopping. I go to checkout, it asks for my card number, which I don’t have…they didn’t send me any kind of confirmation email or ANYTHING. I leave the space blank and continue on to the next screen, thinking it’ll bounce me back to fill in the empty fields…nope, it confirms my order and emails me a confirmation receipt and a delivery date.
I go to the account tools section to see if I can find out anything about my account number, but apparently you have to have your card number to log in…which I don’t have. So now I’m not sure if I’ve really ordered this dress, if I really have a card with them, or if the server just gave a massive hiccup and it just is pretending I have a new account with them. I guess I will wait and see if I get any emails tomorrow, and track the package, and maybe call their toll-free line and check.
