I’m just curious, what do you work with? What kind of education do you have? Why this site?
I had it reffered to by a person I debatted with as place “where they would point out how wrong I am”
So please point out to me how wrong I am!
The words are spelled “referred” and “debated”. I’d call that pretty wrong. Plus this thread is in the wrong forum. That’s wrong too.

The reasoning behind the site is pretty simple - the boards are here for fans of The Straight Dope to discuss whatever they want. This particular forum is to ask factual questions with factual answers… if you have a question (maybe about whatever you were debating with your friend about), feel free to ask and we’ll all try to answer.

But if you are looking for information about this entire online community, part of the “Teeming Millions” of Straight Dope fans, then there isn’t any easy answer–you can get to know us by surfing the website and by reading and participating in the forums. There are 33,519 members at the moment, so asking for information like “what do you work with? What kind of education do you have?” is like asking that question of a small city. The members come from a variety of educational backgrounds and use many approaches and resources in participating in the community’s mission of “fighting ignorance.” As the website’s front page advertises, we consist of “thousands of the smartest, hippest people on the planet, plus a few total dipsticks.” You can usually get a feel for the members by reading their posts.
Finally, as to “please point out to me how wrong I am!”: you have told us almost nothing about you, or what you were debating about that prompted your getting referred here, so perhaps framing a more specific question would draw out a more meaningful answer. Who knows, maybe you’re not even wrong.

Okay, so you were debating with someone, and he told you that if you came to this message board with your debate, we would all point out how wrong you are? Alright, so what is it that you were debating that we are going to debunk?

The debate was about homosexuality. My thesis was that it was a mental disorder in the brain due to disruptions just like eating disorders. My comparison and support-pillar was that of natural occurrence. I was non-aware of the crucial fact that homosexual behavior does occur in nature which made my argument fall.
I admit error but that has nothing to do with this. I’m just curious about this board.
hopefully I can learn something here just like I learned about natural sexual behavior.

I don’t know what this is all about, but just to let you know. This Forum is General Questions. As you can see from the forum descriptions, General Questions is for questions with factual answers. I don’t see any question in your Opening Post, so I’m going to close this.
We have no way of knowing how wrong you are (or even if you are wrong) if you don’t tell us what you are talking about. If you are in some kind of debate, you could go to Great Debates and see if there is already a thread on whatever you’re talking about, or open a new thread if there isn’t one on your topic.
If you do start another thread, please give more information.
