I Have The Lowest Power Bill In All The Land

My electric bill was $36.25 for a large ranch and a family of 4 with Electric Water Heater, Dryer, Stove & Oven. However, we cheat, we have Solar Panels to handle a large portion of our electric generation.

Jennshark, Welcome to New Jersey!

PS. My last Oil tank fill this week was for $642. Ouch!

Just got this today. Out in the country, all electric. Central Arkansas.

Total $$$ divided into KWH = $0.0994508 or almost 10¢ / KWH for this month.

House and shop and heated pump house for cats.

Not a fun bill to see in July, Aug, Sept, Dec, Jan, and Feb. Other 6 months avg. $130

I pay about $25 in the winter, when my tiny apartment gets free heat. In the summer, when using a ridiculously inefficient air conditioner, it tops $90.

I got a bill for £2000 last week.

Ouch. They think there may have been some kind of error. :smack:

How much per gallon down by you? I’m afraid to call for a delivery because I know it will be at least $3/gallon, 200-250 gals.

Jebus Christmas! What, with that and the property taxes you guys have to cough up, you ain’t makin’ it any easier for me to convince Mr. 'addi that we should move to Cape May.

…oh, and Alice? Summer’ll be here in about 5 minutes and you know what that means… :stuck_out_tongue:

They got me for 3.33 per. I remember, not all that long ago, paying .89 per. Thankfully I installed a very efficient Oil Burner and I have a programmable Stat, but this winter is still going to be very painful.

My furnace is turned down to 55 and ye olde thermal underwears are on; it is no consolation that my mother’s heat bill last month, for her 5,000sqft palace in Idaho, was $300 (average outdoor temp at night = -5). I do have to repeat, however, that we were lolling about with the thermostat set at 75 because we were under the (very) mistaken impression that radiator heat would cost a lot less than forced-air.

It is expensive here, but I came from Southern California where a 500sqft shack costs half a million. The man gets ya comin’ and goin’, but here I’m becoming poor more gradually than I was in SoCal.

Jim: thanks for the welcome! I love NJ (really).

My last oil fill was $818. I’m not bothering to dig up my last electric bill. Lets just say it was a lot.

I took possession of my house last December on the 3rd. Got the first gas bill for it, for a 3 week period, with the thermostat set at 55 during a very mild month, and it was just over $300. In January I replaced the 140,000 BTU 70% efficiency gas forced air furnace and the 10 year old central AC unit with a 70,000 BTU 93% efficient furnace and 13 SEER heat pump, with a programmable thermostat. My gas bill for that month dropped to $140, and has went down more as I have added some insulation in various spots. It cost $5400 but will pay for itself very quickly with that kind of savings.
