They re-configured their cabins (read: took out some seats) to give the air traveller more leg room (read: comfort), and I gotta tell ya’, it was like flying in Business Class on the way to Frankfurt.
On the way back (at Frankfurt Airport) I was offered an upgrade to Business Class for 280 bucks. I took it.
There were 2 reasons why:
In front of me waiting to check in was a single mother with a newborn in a baby-stroller and a toddler who did nothing but walk around making crying noises. (No tears). The Mom just kept following this little guy around leaving the baby unattended, so I thought to myself, “Please God, don’t put 'em next to me in Economy!”
It was a great deal and I knew the Airline was trying to stay financially fluid, so I thought “why not let yourself be pampered and try to do a good deed at the same time?”
Ready for the irony?
You know what’s coming, dontcha?
The mother with the two kids was ALSO SEATED IN BUSINESS CLASS!
[Sam Kinison] AHHHHHHHHHHHH! [/Sam Kinison]
Thank God for the Bose noise-cancelling headphones!
I never heard him except for the times when I had to take them off to order another Bloody Mary from the flight attendant! They are wonderful, but do cost a bit more. Find them on E-bay. I bought my set there for just under 90 bucks. Switch them to “high” and relax with either your own CD’s or the airplane music/movies.
Some of the airlines frown on you using your own 'phones, wanting to sell you the use of theirs, but not American. Another reason I think they’re a cool airline.
I hope they stay in business myself; you wouldn’t BELIEVE how many boxes of cereal I had to eat to get the miles they have on certain boxes of Kellog’s cereal!
American isn’t a convenient carrier for most of my travels, but I flew them once this year and LOVED THE EXTRA LEG ROOM!!! If I could, I’d fly them all the time.
My friend flies with her two wee ones first class fairly often. I often wonder how disbelieving all those business travellers are who thought they “escaped” the crumbsnatchers by paying extra for first.
