I can’t stand it. It’s like mindrape.
Here’s my solution. I used this ONCE when I lived in an old brick apartment building.
I kept a diary of what I heard from my next door neighbor; music, noises, even trascripts of her conversations (she was a yeller).
I then fired up my good ol’ Wintel box, typed it all up nice and printed it with (this is the key) my return address listed as ATTGuy, Attourney At Law. Then I sent the letter through registered mail.
Don’t know if I broke a law misrepresenting myself as a lawyer, but I never heard another thing from next door.
This was after I had contacted the landlord many times to complain. Sometimes creativity must be used to battle complacency.
This is the way things are going to be, unless it isn’t.
Just a tip - I would strongly recommend that none of you sign up for a Peace Corps stint in Jamaica.
Oh I know what its like to have rotten upstairs neighbors. Well more like next dor neighbors for us. We lived in townhouses. Our next door neighbors happened to be our LANDLORDS. Their son played music loud at any time. We could hear and feel the beat over our tv.
A really ironic thing happened about that actually. They got robbed. The people turned up the music to hide what they were doing. We didn’t notice anything because loud music was normal. We didn’t learn they were robbed till a day or two later. Not too long after that we got new landlords as well.
The place we live in now is similar to the townhouses only there is only one level we live upstairs and they live down. They have little kids who love to play with the stereo so it’ll go from a nice level to blasting us out of our chairs. also they both work and the hours are weird so their alarm will go off a 4 or 5 am but it won’t get turned off till 7 am or so. Its annoying because we can hear it through the floor. Thank goodness its faint enough to sleep through though otherwise I would be awake every morning really early.
