$1 is a cheap way to spend the evening dreaming about what you’ll do with all your newly-won loot. There’s nothing wrong with buying lottery tickets unless you spend lots of money on it and winning is your retirement plan.

The drawing is twice a week and I buy a ticket for each. The proceeds go to helping the elderly.
I spend way more than that on other charities and I get the satisfaction of helping someone in return. This way, I get a dream, a slim chance of winning and the satisfaction of helping the elderly.
I can afford 2 bucks a week for that.

I bought a ticket for the $50 million (untaxed suckers) Lotto Max today. My daughter has been helping me surf the Hawaii realestate site looking for our new home.

I saw that the fantasy 5 jackpot was at 800,000 a few months ago. Matching 5 numbers did not seem so hard. So i bought one. i had the first 4 in a row. My prize 100 bucks. I bought a new racketball racket. But I thought I was going to get a lot more than that.
Alas, I did not win. 
I never buy PowerBall tickets until the prize is over $100 millon. Then I buy a $5 ticket for each drawing until somebody wins.
Nor did I. On the plus side neither did anyone else. I’m going to plan all week on winning - I’ll decide on Friday if I actually buy a ticket or not
