“I seem to recall somebody here on the dope. Some lawyer/legal type that dealt with pedophiles. Lots of em. They said everyone caught/tried was a first timer, not a repeat offender.”
I suspect this is confusing ‘first time convicted’ with ‘first time they abused a person’ or the like. As in perhaps people are being sentenced/monitored for so long that being convicted a second time is becoming rarer.
You only need to talk to sexual abuse survivors to realise there are quite a few offenders who didnt get caught for years, if at all.
But I do have to give you a  for thinking that I thought pedophiles got caught the first time they victimized a kid. Use a little critical thinking please.
The thing is, your own logic would therefore allow the parent to go in with the child, whether someone was trying to stop them or not, so the issue wouldn’t come up.
If you can just go in despite the mother being worried, why can’t she take a male child into the women’s restroom with her, despite some women freaking out that there’s a man in there?
BillFish, how well did you know this man? How are you so sure he’s innocent of further crimes? And if he made separate folder, doesn’t that strike you as proof there was deliberate intent?
The guy I describe, as I said, has a large contingent of friends and family who think the sun shines out his behind. They think I am an evil person making things up for no reason. They have no clue after all these years that this man eating Thanksgiving dinner with them is completely without conscience. He is more than capable of convincing a stranger that he’s innocent, or if caught, that he’d never done anything like that before.
The truth is that healthy people do not “accidentally” get involved in downloading child porn. I’ve been on the web since RIME and I’ve never even come across it.
I know I’m a bit slow sometimes but… how does “this dude had kiddie pr0n” (which may have been 17yo pr0n, this being a completely different animal from 7yo pr0n) equal “I need an alarm!” None of the convictions found was for burglary.
Cause the women is stupid apparently. Unless there is some magical childrens only bathroom where its a serious felony for adults to go in. Yeah, you’d think if you were THAT worried about your child getting kiddy raped, you’d just go in the damn bathroom to protect your kid rather than trying to start a WWE smackdown match at the entrance with a total stranger.
I did read. Assault, theft and weapons troubles. None of that equals burglary.
If the OP wants to get a security system he’s welcome to it, but it shouldn’t be for this one dude, it should be because there are bad people out there - the ones he doesn’t know about are, simply because there’s many more of them, a lot more dangerous than this one dude who happened to cross his radar.
Just to update, since I hate it when OPs don’t update. I got new locks and an alarm system. I never bothered to re-key the locks when I moved in, so I guess it needed to be done anyway.
Thanks for mentioning this. I’ll definitely call and see if I can get some of this money back.
To me, the fact that he’s never been convicted of burglary is a small consolation. That he’s been convicted of 7 or 8 felonies in the last ten years, some of them violent, tells me 1) he’s not particularly afraid of prison and 2) he doesn’t have a finely developed moral sense. Yeah, there are thousands of guys just like him out there, but none of them know the exact layout of my home, where the windows are, whether or not there are dogs, and who lives there. If you were on hard times, who would you burgle? Some random house that might have a doberman or police officer living there or a house you’ve spent some time in and know intimately?
Honestly, the only thing giving me consolation from the situation is that I have so little that would be worth stealing. He’s free to have my cathode ray tube TV and Wii, I just don’t want him coming into my home.
