I just don't have the fucking words (WARNING: very disturbing...extreme animal abuse)

I cannot beliecve that this is real (don’t look if you are easily disturbed):
The mongrel can move its head but is otherwise utterly defenceless. It can only scream as the knives rip through its skin. Worse, the dog is a camp pet that belongs to the soldiers, an extra detail to ensure that these killers are rendered truly heartless, unhindered by emotion or sentiment.

Once the animal is dead and the soldiers have completed the test, they put their hands into the open wounds, pull out the innards and heart, tear them up and eat them.

The aim is to turn them into men who are not merely untroubled by the sight of blood, but positively relish it.
They are not men. They are utter cunts (excuse my language, but that is a word I use for the lowest of the low).

Disgusting.

I’ll tell you why.

Because I keep seeing MY dogs in that picture.

I have looked at some gross, gross stuff on the Internet. I have seen the Life magazine photographs of war. I’ve seen plenty of blood ‘n’ gore ‘n’ guts. I haven’t looked at the grosser porn out there, but I can imagine (I think).

But what is disturbing about that picture is that it shows what is ABOUT to happen.

Last night, when I clicked on that link, my dogs were outside in their pen. Mr. S brought them in when he got home around midnight. Normally it’s a joyous time when they come in. But watching them scramble around happily, I could only envision them in that situation.

Lord, I tried to forget that picture. But you know the old trick about trying not to think of a purple elephant? Last night and this morning I took no joy in rubbing their furry pink bellies; it only reminded me of GOD HELP ME I CANNOT FINISH THIS SENTENCE. How long will it be before I can think of and interact with my furry children with untainted joy, without that image in my head? And the fact that those innocent dogs were made the camp pets, and thus trusted and loved their tormentors (and the corresponding thoughts of how that must have added to the poor dogs’ confusion and pain (another thought I can’t really finish) is just too horrible to contemplate.

I hope the image of that picture on my brain will fade with time. But I know that some things stay with you forever. Even seeing the title of this thread as I surf refreshes it in my mind.

Ogre, I know you meant well by posting that link. And I know that it’s only a good thing for inhumanity to be exposed. But by God, if ever there was a candidate for link deletion, IMHO that one is the Mother of All Offensive Links.

I wish to HELL I had never seen that picture.

[devil’s advocate]

So killing animals for food is OK, but for national defense isn’t?

Surely ‘not fainting at the sight of blood’ is vital skill for soldiers?

[/devil’s advocate]

I am sick thinking about this, but I do feel the other side of the argument has to be put, perhaps more so because our judgement is clouded by our disgust.

Theres not a law against this?

Beyond words.

Scarlett, while I share your disgust and anger, I would say that this hardly qualifies as most offense link in the world.

If you click on the link, not only will you see a news photo of a live dog tied to poles, spreadeagled, taken from behind, but ALSO a British Airways popup will play cheesy airport music at you, and the White Devils have programmed it to interfere with your Window-Closing Synapses, so you MUST listen to it six times in a row, your mouth hanging helplessly open, until your autonomic nervous system kicks in and moves your hand to the mouse.

A truly evil link, on many levels.

From the story:

FWIW. << shrug >>

And, here’s the truly scary thing.

Animal cruelty is the least of it.

According to the article, the practice has been banned, and the picture taken before it went in to effect.

Ya, sure.

Obviously, any scenario that requires them to brutally slaughter a helpless victim. Says something about the Peruvian miloitary’s plans, don’t it? Can’t sem THEM going on too many “humanitarian” missions.

I saw these photos in the newspaper yesterday. It was all I could do to keep the tears away. Truly appalling. Surely there is a better way.

Just despicable. :frowning:

Where do I sign up for the invasion of Peru.

Bastards.

To some people who can’t understand the major offense…
I am sorry this might be a little of a highjack…
But WHY is it so bad to be deeply touched, offended and disgusted when seeing animals suffer?? This just makes me so freaking bad when people will jump and add there little comment, “and what about dying kids?” well yeah, that is gross too…
I chose (well, no I can’t avoid) to be especially grosses out and touch by people unfairly treating animals. It is the way I and other are. Get over it.
And I eat meat, and hate PETA.

Sorry, I am mad! and I won’t click on this link, I am terrified!

I’m with Carine.

Just because we are opposed and sickened to the systematic torture and murder of animals, doesn’t mean we hold human beings and their tragedies in any less regard. If anything, the high regard I have for dogs only shows that my regard for humans is HIGHER still.

If you showed me a website with people torturing and murdering humans I’d be forty thousand times as sickened.

Unfortunately, there is no limit to the things that sadden and horrify me in the world…don’t worry CRorex, I’m not wasting all my disgust on this.

Ok, to be honest what’s being done to the dogs doesn’t particularly bother me. After ‘sacraficing’ lab animals so you can use their organs for experiments you start to take a different prespective.

My reaction to this…

Regarding the dogs: It’s revolting seeing the animals tied up and used this way. I can’t imagine doing it.

However, they are training commandos. And commandos are generally used to quickly and effeciently kill patrols, sentries or eliminate VIPs. At least if they are used in the American model. Most likely they will be used in the ‘war on drugs’. Part of commando training is indoctrination… Something has to be done to change an everyday person (usually people go through psych evaluations to weed out any devients… you want professionals not someone who gets off on killing) into someone who won’t hesitate when killing an unarmed or sleeping enemy.

Their training looks like it’s set up around to remove any hesitation they have to killing. So even green troops won’t have to go through the dehuminization of the enemy before they stop caring if they kill. If you can charge a helpless, terrified animal and butcher him, slitting the throat of someone who is willing to kill you should be a lot easier.

I keep wondering what happens to the commandos when they try to retire… They’ve gone through a training where they scale up, like a lot of serial killers… Starting with killing/torturing small animals then getting a reward for it… then migrating to human beings and getting a reward. Hell, the social structure of their units revolves around these acts.

How can you return to normal?

And yet, these are young men who are willing to serve their country and their country is turning them into this. Do they even NEED soldiers indoctrinated to kill in this way? What does the government do to try to rehabilitate them?

What would your reaction be to one of these retired commandos? Would you continue to judge him on his training and not his honorable service to his country? If he was poorly indoctrinated back to civilian life, and found himself shunned by people it was his job to protect how would he react? He’s already a highly trained killer… a highly trained killer in a society that demonizes him is a VERY dangerous thing.

It’s absolutly DISGUSTING what the Peruvian goverment is doing to its soldiers. Yes, it’s bad that they are killing dogs. But what they are doing to the soldiers is WORSE.

I was responding to everyone saying, “poor doggy” and not thinking about what sort of living hell the men are being trained to take part of.

Once again, you can feel disgust, sympathy and sadness for the humans and the dogs. It’s not an either/or situation.

You are right CRorex, totally right. Let’s say I wouldn’t want one of those guys as a neighbor once he retired, you got to be more than messed up after living like this.

I didn’t say that it’s bad to be deeply touched, offended and disgusted. I’m was just shocked and disgusted with how any government and military could treat it’s citizens who volunteer for a unbelievable dangerous life of a commando like so many serial killers in training. Peru is not in a position where it is threatened by hostile forces to warren what is most likely the training of professional dehumanized mass murderers. And if they show this little regard for their soldier’s mental wellbeing in their training I highly doubt they’re going to pay for the years of therapy to put them back together again.

“Congradulations son, you’ve been accepted into a life of honor, duty and sacrifice keeping your countrymen safe. To do this we’re going to make you into Ted Bundy.”

It’s the notion that they are treating their own citizens like fighting dogs. Treat them harshly, teach them to enjoy the kill then turn them loose on their enemies… That … I don’t have words for it.

But you see, those guys got to be f…ed up to start with, because like you just said, they volunteer to become those ruthless killer and I am sure they heard of the training.
I have compassion for the animal that has nothing to do with this and never “asked” to be part of the training. The humans thought about it and made a choice.
