I just felt my baby move for the First Time!

So I’m just sitting here perusing the particularily fine selection of petty grievences and wild rages the Pit had to offer tonight and I feel it.
wiggle, wiggle
I froze, barely breathing, wondering if maybe I hadn’t just imagined it.
wiggle, wiggle, tickle
It came again! Definitely not just my imagination. And with those few little movements, it all comes together. It’s as if it’s officially a “baby” now, somehow. Less ephemeral. It has motion, it can have an impact–however tiny–on the world around it, even if that entire world is simply me. It’s really very exciting.

I still remember being in the bathtub, reading a book propped on my swollen belly during my first pregnancy when I first felt my son move. The book twitched a bit with the movement, and the water rippled, and I remember being simply awestruck. And now when I remember this one’s first small wavering wiggles, I’ll think of the Boards, of all things.
And while is a bit little less overwhelming this time around, it is no less thrilling. I felt my baby! I wish my son was old enough to be aware of the situation, because I’m just bursting for someone to be excited with me. So I just had to write this, share it—and in time it will serve as a nice little reminder for me about this moment–and the excitement of littlebit’s first hesitant movements in his/her brand-spanking new life.

Congratulations! Funny how you always remember what you were doing when you first felt it. I only have one who is 2.5 years old, but I remember I was standing at the stove, stirring the dinner. : )

Congratulations! Even though I’m a guy, even I can appreciate what this means. One of my fondest memories was feeling my wife’s tummy bunch up and move around. Of course, I’m not sure she appreciated it when I would push on her tummy, and the baby would push back. Very cool. Enjoy yourselves!

Awww, that’s lovely. Nothing like it, is there? ::beams::

My youngest is 12 now, I can no longer recall where I was when I first felt either of them move, but I can certainly recall how it felt.

Congratulations.

WEEEEEEE

That is so exciting. I never got the chance to expeirence it and am sad about that. Human life is so incredible. Enjoy!

I’ve had 3 children. When I first felt my oldest child move, I cried. That’s when my pregnancy changed from being about me and my pregnancy symptoms to being all about my baby. It was a wonderful moment. (He’s now 19 in a punk rock band)

I am SO thrilled for you! How are things going with…well, everything?

My Love,

Cheri

Congrats, Bella! We’ve got three week old twin boys.
Well, we have half of them, at least. Collin’s home, but Alex has decided he isn’t quite ready to come home yet. :frowning:

I do remember the kids doing the mamba in the wife’s belly rather fondly.

I also remember Collin kicking the ultrasound transiever while we watched the screen. THAT was the point where I realized that there were KIDS in THERE

Congrats, Belladonna !
I am glad you posted about it. I was reminded of feeling my son for the first time. I, too was in the bath tub. It felt like HUGE butterflies. He is now 16, but your post made me think back on earlier times.

Best Wishes

Wow =)
The first time I felt my baby move, I was laying in bed and felt a couple of little thumps on my right side. I didn’t know if it was her or not, but then a few days later I felt it again.

Or course now, she kicks the crap out of me every time I sit down wrong. It’s somehow not as endearing. (I am going to miss it, though.)

Thanks guys! After I logged off last night, I lounged about on the couch for a bit watching TV and he/she started going nuts. I’m talking barrel rolls here. I know before long I’ll be feeling like you angelicate–battered–but for now it’s still a novelty so I’m gonna just enjoy it with a smile.

Congrats on your twins sniglet! When I was 14 my mom had “surprise” twins, and I can remember being so enchanted by them. They’re 12 now, and still two of the coolest girls I know. Here’s sending good vibe’s Alex’s way–I hope he’s home with you soon.

And as for how everything’s going Scotti–Auntie (:))–do you have time to read a whole book on the subject? Long story short, it’s just me and the lil’guy now–and the soon to be lil’bit too, of course. Aside from just a basic suckiness to being alone and pregnant, I’m actually pretty content with the situation. It’s for the best in the long run, I really believe that. Thanks for asking…

Cheers!
bella

And, just to complete the update–I go in for my checkup next week and they’ll be scheduling my ultrasound. Whoohooo! I’m so anxious to know if it’s a boybit or a girlbit that I’m almost giddy over it. Then I can start obsessing over names, which–IMO–is one of the absolute best parts of this reproduction gig.

Yay bella! and Yay bellababy! I’m so glad to hear the update. When my oldest guy first moved, I was lying on my belly with my feet in the air watching TV and a mouse ran under my stomach. ??? How’d that happen? “Joey! Joey! the baby moved!”

PS. Hey you’re coming up on your 1,000th post. How’d you do that so quickly?

Hi bella!
How exciting!
Babies are silly, aren’t they?
I kinda miss those coy little flutters from weeks ago!
I’m 26 weeks with my first, and the past couple of weeks he has graduated from the twitches to the new-and-improved, BIG BOY
thuds and rolls that practically leave me breathless at times.
He doesn’t care, though.
He does what he wants to!

That’s just fine, honeylove…you’ll do what is best for the three of you, I have FAITH in you!

And better keep us (me) updated on the gender issue…I’ve got SHOPPING to do!

All three of you are in my prayers, always.
