Not likely he’ll get to visit the Dry Valleys. There are a limited number of scientific flights there, and only rarely do folks other than US navy helo pilots or scientists get to go along.

I think there used to be a method for regular personnel to sign up in case there are any empty seats on missions, but you have to be available (off shift) and ready to go at a moment’s notice.
